#32 A Visit to a Dream Cafe | Kurumed Coffee @ Nishi-Kokubunji, Tokyo
I'm Hatasen, in my 7th month of training to become a new farmer at a honeyberry/haskap farm. My previous job was as a teacher.
I am accumulating 1,500 to 2,000-character articles on marketing, farm management, and other useful information for you.
My favorite bakery is Panpaka-pan in Urakawa, Hokkaido.
While visiting home in Kobe, I found that the bread from Isuzu Bakery didn't taste as delicious as it used to.
It feels like my tongue and stomach have been firmly captured by my local, familiar bakery. After all, it is just so delicious.
Thank you as always for reading.
In the not-too-distant future, I want to run a cafe while farming with my spouse.
That is the fantasy I am painting.
I hope this article will be of some help to those who share the same fantasy.
Now, what kind of cafe do I want to run?
To bring a vague image into focus, I recommend visiting cafes that can serve as models.
In this series, I would like to introduce shops that I think are wonderful.
The 28th place I would like to introduce is Kurumed Coffee in Nishi-Kokubunji, Kokubunji City, Tokyo.
Kurumed Coffee is owned by Tomoaki Kageyama, author of "Slowly, Hurry." I had been wanting to find an opportunity to visit it.

When you enter the entrance, a large nutcracker is displayed, creating the atmosphere of the shop. The tiled floor and the staircase are also lovely.

Walnuts and a nutcracker are placed at each seat with a note saying, "Please have one."
I have eaten walnuts before, but this was my first time cracking them with such a tool.
You can enjoy the time waiting for your coffee while leisurely cracking walnuts. It had such a wonderful mechanism.

There were various nutcrackers placed on the tables and inside the shop, and it was fun to find them.

The menu also had a gentle wooden feel, and its old, well-used appearance blended in with the atmosphere of the shop.

This time, I had the autumn recommended set.
A set of Kurumed cake with fig cream and autumn coffee.
The Kurumed cake is a simple cake made with Tokachi flour, eggs, honey, and cane sugar. This rustic, somewhat nostalgic cake was sandwiched with fig jam and cream.
Eating it while sprinkling the nuts scattered around the cake makes it fragrant and very delicious.
The autumn coffee I drank with it had the aroma and bitterness I like. It went very well with the cake.
Of course, it's fine to just drink coffee, but I prefer a way of drinking that allows me to enjoy pairing it with sweets.

A system also found at the sister store, Kurumido Kissaten, is the "Letter Coffee."
If you send a Letter Coffee with a letter to someone, you will also receive a reply from the recipient.
How wonderful that is.
In an age where social media is so developed and we can easily communicate with anyone, sending and receiving a Letter Coffee that might arrive at any time.
This investment of time and effort is wonderful, isn't it?
Three charming points of Kurumed Coffee that I want to incorporate into my (future) shop
1. A mechanism to enjoy even while waiting for coffee
2. Communication between customers that takes time and effort
3. Cute characters like nutcrackers
Perhaps it is precisely because we live in an age where speed and efficiency are demanded in everything that shops like Kurumed Coffee are so sought after.
Thank you so much for always reading until the end.
Let's look forward to discovering new things together next time as well!

I also write about various other topics, such as education combined with other fields, and marketing.
I would be happy if you could read them.
I would be absolutely delighted if you could 'like' or 'follow' me.
