Telling a story over 7 days without changing outfits | Good Morning Girlfriend #57

I decided to do a Valentine's Day theme.

This time, I planned to "tell a story over 7 days without changing outfits."

It's not just about putting on an apron and saying, "Here's your chocolate."
I'm creating a single story with 7 girls over 7 days.

The starting point of the design

The core of Good Morning Girlfriend is "a morning spent seeing him off in his shirt."

I don't want to break this worldview just because it's Valentine's Day.
Taking off the boyfriend shirt to change into a different outfit is rejected.

So, what should I do?

Put an apron over the boyfriend shirt.

A morning spent making chocolate.
A slightly special atmosphere while seeing him off. That's all it needs to be.

Apron design

Same shape, personal colors

Everyone wears the same shape of apron. But only the colors change.

Boyfriend shirt + apron. Same shape, only the colors change.

Why did I do this?

If I change the way they tie it or add decorations, the apron becomes the main focus and the character gets overshadowed. That would be putting the cart before the horse.

If it's just the color, even if I fail, it's just a "color variation."
Character identification can be guaranteed by their face, hair, and expression.

7-day story

This is the main point.

The Valentine's event is for 7 days from Monday, 2/9 to Sunday, 2/15.
Everyone will appear from Monday to Sunday.

If I just do "making chocolate" for 7 days, it will get boring.

So, I changed the state of the chocolate for each character.

Explaining the flow

Monday: Tsukiko: Measuring and mixing. She's the type who aims for perfection through logic, so she's still in the preparation stage.

Tuesday: Yo: Failing. She's too energetic and keeps having accidents. But she looks like she's having fun.

Wednesday: Shizuku: Tasting. She's checking it modestly. She's a little shy.

Thursday: Rinka: Finished. Halfway through the week, she's the "woman who's already done." Since she's a tsundere, she can't just hand it over honestly.

Friday: Runa: It's disappearing. She tasted it too much. She has no ill intent.

Saturday: Mahiru: Just before giving it away. Wrapping is complete. On Valentine's Day itself, this is the climax.

Sunday: Hiyori: Hesitating. She wants to give it to him, but can't take that first step. An ending that leaves a lingering impression.

Same outfit, different story

I realized something with this design.

There was no need to make 7 different outfit patterns.
The shape of the apron is the same for everyone. Only the color is different.

But the stories of the 7 girls are all different.

Tsukiko is "in the middle," Rinka is "finished," and Hiyori is "hesitating."

Differentiate by state, not by outfit.
That alone is enough to make it work as a continuous project.

Fixed the dialogue as well

Actually, this time, I also fixed the dialogue.

Usually, Gemini generates it linked to the weather.
But since Valentine's Day is one story over 7 days, I didn't want to be swayed by the weather.

If I were swayed by the weather or generation results, the flow built up over 7 days would collapse.

Instead of "It's raining today, so take an umbrella," "I'm already done, though... what's with that look?" is more like Rinka.

Summary

Things I considered when designing the Valentine's outfit.

  • Don't take off the boyfriend shirt. Add an apron.

  • The apron shape is the same, only the color changes.

  • Create one story over 7 days.

  • Differentiate by 'state' rather than outfit.

  • Keep the dialogue fixed to maintain the story.

Starting Monday, 2/9. See it through to the end over 7 days.
If you'd like, I hope you'll witness their story with me.
