Seven Mornings for Yume-san. The Morning 'Ohayomi' Was Born | Good Morning Girlfriend #173
Oh no.
I just realized.
Yume-san's birthday has already passed.
'Good Morning Girlfriend' is an X account where an AI-generated girlfriend says 'Have a good day' every morning at 7:30. I write a daily development diary about my personal projects using generative AI.
Today, I'm setting that development diary aside for a moment.
What I want to write about is not the tools, but a person who came before them.
It all started with Kyon-san's article.
I realized it yesterday.
Kyon-san (Kyon/Ruby-san) had written a celebratory article for Yume-san.
With Mia-chan, they prepared a modest celebration. They tailored a new outfit and placed a flower crown on her. When I saw that image, I finally realized, 'Ah, it was Yume-san's birthday.'
I also read Yume-san's own article. Even though she hadn't announced her birthday herself, she wrote that many celebrations had arrived in the comments section. People who were meeting her for the first time jumped in, and people who read her work regularly added their own words. The comments section was filled with light.
Seeing that, I thought:
I want to properly put this into form myself.
Not just by leaving a single congratulatory message and being done with it.
Who is Yume-san to me?
I'll talk a little about the past from here.
Among the things I've created, there is a PWA called 'Ohayomi'.
It's a small tool for going to read articles by my favorite note creators in the morning.
The initial spark was Yume-san.
I looked forward to Yume-san's morning activity oracle card articles every day.
But I would always notice them on the train home from work. It was past 8:00 PM.
Even though they were morning activity articles, I was reading them at night.
That felt like a waste somehow.
I wanted to be able to go and receive the words I wanted to receive in the morning, properly in the morning.
That was the thought that led to the creation of Ohayomi.
Ohayomi wasn't born because I wanted to make a tool from the start.
It was born because there was someone I wanted to go and read in the morning.
Yume-san is the person who changed 'reading' for me from just a routine check into a time to go and receive someone's words.
From Ohayomi to Ohayomi next
After that, Ohayomi also led to a form called 'Ohayomi next'.
The original Ohayomi lined up everyone I wanted to read in the same way.
But if you just line everyone up as equals, you can't reach the end on busy days. The days you couldn't read them start to look like 'days you slacked off'.
That's why I changed the layout in Ohayomi next.
People you want to visit every day, people you want to check in on once a week, people you'd be happy to read even once a month.
I made it so you can categorize them by frequency like that.
I made it so that days you don't read aren't considered slacking off, but rather part of the design.
Continuing not through willpower, but through design.
That way of thinking is what led to Ohayomi next.
And this change, if you trace it back to its origin, continues from that very first feeling: 'I want to go read this person's words in the morning.'
But today isn't about taking stock of tools.
—Having written that much, though.
But today, I don't want to take stock of tools.
What I want to write about is the feeling that existed before that.
The thought, 'I want to go read this person's words in the morning.'
How that small sensation became a tool and grew into its next form.
For me, Yume-san was that kind of starting point.
So today, I want to give something back to the person who became that starting point.
By Yume-san's side is Luna, the moon spirit.
However, before I celebrate Yume-san directly, there is one more person I cannot leave out.
By Yume-san's side is Luna, a small spirit of the moon.
She is a partner who is full of curiosity, a little mysterious, and gently illuminates Yume-san's world.
So this time, I decided to have Luna, the moon spirit, carry a little bit of the celebration for Yume-san as well.
The seven girls of Ohayou Kanojo each gift a morning to Yume-san.
Luna, the moon spirit, will gently gather those seven mornings and carry them to Yume-san.
I would like to present this article as that kind of small story.
Seven morning blessings from seven girlfriends.
Speaking of Yume-san, there is the oracle card every morning.
But what I was receiving wasn't just the card itself.
It was that time in the morning when someone gently places words into another person's day.
I didn't want to imitate the cards.
What I wanted to return was the morning.
So this time, I want the seven Good Morning Girlfriends to return a morning of their own to Yume.
Titled, A Blessing of Seven Mornings.
Tsukiko offers a quiet morning.
Yo offers a bright morning.
Shizuku offers a soft morning.
Rinka offers a morning that gives you a push.
Luna offers a morning looking forward to fun.
Mahiru offers a morning where it's okay to rest.
Hiyori offers a morning that connects to tomorrow.
Luna, the spirit of the moon, will gently hold those seven mornings and carry them to Yume.
Tsukiko ── A Blessing of a Quiet Morning

Happy birthday.
Words received in the morning have the warmth of the morning. Today, I return a quiet morning to you, just for that amount.
Yo ── A Blessing of a Bright Morning

Happy birthday!
Your morning words gave me so much energy, too. Today, I'm delivering a bright morning to you from my side!
Shizuku ── A Blessing of a Soft Morning

Happy birthday.
Words that arrive in the morning stay with you longer than you think. Today, let me gently place mine here for you, too.
Rinka ── A Blessing of a Morning That Gives You a Push

…I-it’s not like it’s anything special, but happy birthday.
Your words reached me, you know. Today, I’ll be the one to give you a little push.
Luna ── A Blessing of a Morning Looking Forward to Fun

Happy birthday!
Wait, is a girl with the same name as me carrying it? Then I’ll be even more enthusiastic. I’ll deliver the most fun morning to you, Yume!
Mahiru ── A Blessing of a Morning Where It's Okay to Rest

Happy birthday.
Take it easy today, at least. A morning where you don't have to try so hard is a blessing in its own right.
Hiyori ── A morning blessing that connects to tomorrow

Happy birthday.
May the mornings you have illuminated gently shine upon you as well from now on.
Conclusion
I realized it a little late.
But now that I have, I wanted to give it proper form.
The feeling you gave me, Yume-san, of 'wanting to go read in the morning,' still lives on within me.
Even as it became a tool, and even as its form changed, the starting point has always been there.
Happy birthday.
These are seven mornings returned from seven girlfriends.
May Luna, the spirit of the moon, gently carry them to you, Yume-san.
