[#ShirokumaLiteratureClubSeptember1] 20-Character Novel

I am creating a single story using all the monthly prompts from the Shirokuma Literature Club. Regular members are told all the prompts at the beginning of the month, which is how I came up with this idea. I am taking on the challenge every month, with the first installment being a 20-character novel, and subsequent installments being stories with no character limit.

In addition to the above, I decided to adopt a style this year where a grandmother reads aloud. Therefore, the part starting with the Shirokuma Literature Club prompt becomes the reading, and the story unfolds with a conversation following it. I would appreciate it if you could join me to see if I can successfully complete 12 stories in 2025.

There was a world that was mine alone on the transparent pages.

“You can’t see it if it’s transparent, right?”
“Well, that’s true.”

The grandmother smiles gently at her curious grandchildren. The grandchildren puff out their round cheeks, saying that they can’t understand the story if it’s transparent.

“Hmm, maybe it’s a book that only the person reading it can understand.”
“What! You mean a book just for yourself?”
“That might be the case.”
“Wow, that’s great!”

The three of them chat happily and excitedly about a book that only they can read. But the sister and brother’s eyelids gradually grow heavy. By the time the grandmother gently tucks them back in, their cute, soft breathing can be heard.
