What is your capacity? I limit myself to 3 tasks a day
Hello.
I am Rieko-sensei,
and I teach lessons on body conditioning in Kobe.
Every day,
thinking,
“I want to do this too,”
“I have to do that too,”the day just ends.
And then,
“I couldn't do this,”
“I couldn't do that,”
don't you ever blame yourself?
■ Limit daily tasks to 3
For myself, I have decided
“limit daily tasks to 3”
as a rule.
Of course, it's a bonus if I get them done.
It's okay if I don't.
If I push myself, I can do about 6.
But if I pack that much in, I often end up exhausted the next day.
By the way,
chores like cooking and laundry, or
sending out newsletters and social media posts,
have already become habits, so I don't include them in these “3”.
What counts as a “task” is different for everyone.
In my case,
I count things that require a bit of effort,
or things that cause a little stress, as “tasks”.
■ Yesterday's 3 tasks
Since I was off work yesterday,
1. Go for a regular dental checkup
2. Repot flowers
3. Go to the climbing gym
I was very satisfied after finishing these three.
Repotting flowers is something that takes less time than cooking, but
thinking “I have to do it, I have to do it,”
I had been putting it off for about a month.
So, the sense of satisfaction when I finished was great.
■ It's okay not to stick to 3
Of course, there is no need to be fixated on the number “3”.
There are days that take a lot of energy on their own, such as days when you go on a trip, have an important presentation, or have family events.
On such days, it is enough if you can do just one task.
What is important is not the number of plans, but matching them to your own capacity.
■ I also set a capacity for work
It is the same with work.
I set a target number of lessons per day.
I use a guideline of up to 3 new clients per day, and
a total of 300 minutes of lesson time.
as my limit.
Of course, if I do the maximum, I get quite tired.
That is why,
if there are days when I can only do half of that, that is enough.
Instead of aiming for the maximum every day,
I have a standard of
"If I can do this much today, that is enough."
For me, about three "little efforts" a day is just the right capacity.
Rather than trying to do everything, finishing with an amount that suits me allows me to move comfortably the next day as well.
"I was able to do this today."
"I think this is just the right capacity for me."
I would love to hear stories like that from you too.
Let's find your just-right capacity together.
