The Person After My First Love [Teruteru Teruko-san Project] Participation Article
I am participating in Teruteru Teruko-san's project (pardon me for just passing by 💦)
I wrote about a common first love-ish episode (though it was more about the end of love) in a short story for the Shirokuma Literature Club, so here it is 👇
Here is a memory of the person after that. This is also a rather |absurd| anecdote.
It was around the time I was planning to change jobs. The era was just as the Showa period was coming to an end.
Although I had obtained a driver's license, I couldn't secure a parking space at my apartment, so I gave up on owning a car. Instead, I bought a 50cc bike. Following the recommendation of a high school friend, it was a motocross-style bike.
Since a beginner was going to ride this little wild horse, even if it was just a moped, I needed some instruction. A temporary employee at the bike shop took on that role. That led to us dating. It's a common story.
He was a pro-level driver. When I asked him about it, he said he was a former car dealer and was currently working as a temporary staff member while looking for a new job. Our circumstances were similar. That was the trigger.
However, for a car dealer, he had a tendency to show off his driving technique, and safe driving was secondary.
The reason for this became clear when I rode in his car.
Um... where exactly is this, a 'Safari Rally'? Are we entering some kind of endurance race? And besides... isn't this modification illegal? 💦 (The bumper is thin, the license plate has a translucent cover (the one on his bike was bent upward), and it's modified to be hard to capture on 🎥. He even thinned the doors to make the car lighter. This guy is a repeat offender (;^^A)
'Isn't it great? Look at the seats. They're fireproof, you know? The seatbelts are jet-plane spec.'
...Why don't you put that level of care into driving safely? Well, I suppose that equipment is necessary. After all, your driving is like that of a stuntman. Why are you going 120 km/h on a public road? This isn't the *Autobahn* (sweating profusely). On top of that, sudden braking and sudden acceleration. I suppose it's skillful that you don't spin the car. I think so, but that's a skill that isn't needed. What's required is safe driving.
At the time, I was working in a department related to traffic safety in the city. He knew that, and yet he acted like this. It must have been intentional (self-display. He was young, too (in his 20s). Apparently, he actually did participate in endurance races. I wish he would have kept that car exclusively for that purpose 💦
*In recent years, even the German Autobahn has speed limits, so it is not completely unrestricted. Please consider this analogy as of the time of this anecdote*
'...I'm going to hail a taxi. I still value my life' (I was in my 20s at the time). 'Huh? Hey, wait a second!'
That wasn't the only reason, but my relationship with this person ended after about half a year. How pathetic 😂 ...I'm sorry, Teruko-san. This isn't a love story. It was a dark history from the past <(_ _)> A pebble or an acorn 🌰 got mixed into your lovely cherry-blossom-colored anecdote 😂
