After school that day, I took a slight detour. Just before reaching the convenience store I was aiming for, a certain building caught my eye.

"Kawada Candy Store"

Had this shop always been here? I wondered, and stepped inside.

"Eight-or-Nine-Times-Out-of-Ten Fortune Slip," "Seven-Five-Three Memory Candy."

Items I had never heard of or seen before. Before I could even wonder what they were, the shopkeeper, an older woman, called out to me.

"The 'Memory Candy' is exactly what the name says. You can draw the 'fortune slip' three times for 10 yen. Eight or nine times out of ten, you'll win something."

I nodded at the woman, handed over 10 yen, and drew the slips three times.

The slips were also fortune slips, with some kind of text written on them.

[Lost item, will definitely be found. It is essential not to give up searching.]

"It says that since you'll find what you lost, don't give up looking," the woman explained.

The woman explained it like that.

"So, is that how you found this keychain?"

It was the next day that I told my best friend Shota about the shop, while showing him the keychain I had found after searching my room when I got home from the candy store. After school, Shota and I went to the place where the shop had been, but there was only a sign standing there that read 'Property of ▲■ Company'.

Maybe, just like the keychain, I might be able to meet that shop and that woman again. Thinking that, I still sometimes look for lost things in that spot.
