Is Effort Necessary!?

The other day, I supervised an article for HRtable regarding job consultation for NEETs, and in that article, I wrote the following comment: “I want you to believe in your own potential and achieve your goals by putting in the effort.”

In response to this comment, I received the following feedback from a young person currently job hunting: “Is effort necessary for job hunting? If I put in the effort, will I be able to become a full-time employee?” I was hesitant about how to reply, thinking, “Hmm, that’s true...”
Certainly, there is no guarantee that you will be hired as a full-time employee just because you put in the effort during your job hunt. As former Major Leaguer Ichiro once said,
“People who feel they are putting in effort cannot beat those who are enjoying themselves,” it may be that those who enjoy job hunting achieve better results than those who treat it as an effort. I believe that “effort” is important and significant. However, if someone tells you to “make an effort,” most people will likely not accept it readily, thinking, “I don’t want to do that” or “Why do I have to be told that?” There is no guarantee that putting in effort will lead to success. However, what I wanted to convey to NEETs and others in my comment for this article was: “Do not give up before you even start by doing nothing. Take action on things you are interested in and things you want to do; try challenging yourself.” In that sense, I commented, “I want you to believe in your own potential and achieve your goals by putting in the effort.”
I think there is a difference between the effort forced upon you by others and the effort you make of your own volition. When you are absorbed in something, the feeling of making an effort disappears, doesn't it! Yes! It’s that feeling you get when you are absorbed in a game! I wanted you to bring that feeling into your job hunting as well. Fight!
