Even if things don't go well, it's fine as long as it doesn't break
The relationship with a mother-in-law is truly difficult.
The more I try to get along, the more
the distance becomes too close, which ends up being exhausting.
I, too, have thought many times that it might be impossible.
The daughter-in-law and mother-in-law issue isn't about one person being wrong,
but rather a strange relationship where two people with different values and ways of life are joined as 'family'.
But in my 10 years of living together,
there is one thing I have learned.
That is,
that 'you can maintain a relationship without fighting.'
What is important to keep it from breaking
is not deciding who is right,
but having the courage to be just a little bit softer in how you interact.
Give a small gift on an anniversary or birthday.
Say a word of 'I appreciate your help' or 'Thank you' during casual moments.
Just by doing that,
the tense atmosphere changes just a little.
It's okay if the other person doesn't change.
First, let your own 'fighting spirit' rest a little.
While spending time like that,
the relationship may not become 'good,' but it will become something you can 'maintain without breaking.'
I will probably never fully understand my mother-in-law in my entire life.
But I can live without breaking the relationship.
That is the answer I reached after 10 years.
