🌊 Essay 'Swimming Toward the Light' - Rainbow Creative Club -
At the bottom of the sea, the two of them reached out toward the light.
Bubbles danced in the blue world.
The light, so close yet just out of reach, swayed with the waves.
When I was a child, the sea was a little scary.
The depth where my feet couldn't touch the bottom, the irregular swells of the waves, the silence that seemed to echo deep in my ears.
But even so, I swam.
There was no reason for it.
I just wanted to believe that 'there is something beyond that light.'
Now, the two on the screen move through the water like fish with a will of their own.
Neither is moving ahead of the other; they are simply swimming side by side toward the light.
Words are unnecessary.
To be able to think together, 'let's go in that direction.'
That alone was more important than anything else.
Life is similar.
Without knowing where we are heading,
we just swim, struggle, and sink.
Even so, if someone is by my side, I feel like I can surface.
Even if I cannot see the future.
Even if I cannot breathe well along the way.
As long as there is someone to point toward the light,
I can start swimming again.
The sea from back then, the light from back then.
And the feeling of 'moving alongside someone' in this very moment,
quietly and surely, pierces my heart.
So today, too, toward the light.
Carrying feelings that cannot be put into words,
I swim on, stirring up bubbles.
And I wish.
That the light I looked up at that day,
this place right now,
and the future I am yet to meet—
are properly connected.
