If I were to die tomorrow, I would want to go on that trip one more time.
Suppose I were to die tomorrow.
If I could go on one last trip of my choice, that trip would be the one.
My body has returned to being a fifth grader in elementary school.
In the train's box seating, there is my cousin of the same age and my younger brother, two years my junior.
For the first time, we are going on an overnight trip by ourselves as children.
Living in the countryside, we don't usually ride trains.
Children who don't usually ride trains are taking a limited express and being rocked by the train for five hours. It is undoubtedly an "adventure."
My uncle's family, who live in Osaka, invited us.
It seems that when my uncle was about my age, he once traveled on a long-distance train to visit the boarding house of his older brother (my father), who was much older than him.
That experience was "repaid" by being gifted to us.
Taking an unfamiliar train to an unknown town to visit people I love.
Even though it is such a simple thing, there is no better experience than this.
It is fitting for my final journey.
◇ ◇ ◇
We read CoroCoro Comic, occasionally look out the window, and are excited the whole time.
A pleasant excitement...
It is because I know that a sense of security, like being wrapped in a warm embrace, awaits us ahead.
My uncle's family has a good relationship between the husband and wife, and they have cute children aged four and two. They are my ideal image of a family.
The children are fond of me, and just playing with them makes me feel happy.
We arrived in Osaka, but we didn't really do anything special.
We went to my uncle's company housing, played with the children, ate dinner, and my brother, my cousin, and I laid out our futons in one room to sleep.
During this trip, we were playing"a certain game".
It was so much fun, so much fun, so much fun, that I didn't want this trip to end. I wanted to prolong it even a little bit.
That is why, on this three-day, two-night trip, I pretended from the very beginning that it was the final day.
“Ah, this fun trip is ending today.” “What a shame.” “I don’t want it to end.”
Of course, we both know.
That today is only the first day, and there is still plenty of fun left to be had.
“Do we really have to go home already? I don’t want to, I don’t want to.”
By repeating this spell, I was able to feel a maddeningly happy sensation.
A treasure-like day remains in my hands.
“I don’t want to go home, I don’t want to, I don’t want to.”
Even on my final journey, I will likely use the same trick.
“Ah, this special trip ends today. Will we die once we fall asleep? I don’t want to, I don’t want to.”
Of course, I also know.
That in reality, there is still more left. A handful of maddening happiness still remains.
And I know that the one savoring it the most is my current self, chanting “I don’t want to.”
I don’t want to, I don’t want to, it’s incredibly exciting.
I’m so glad I was born.
I don’t want to, I don’t want to, to think I’d realize it at the very end.
It was a life filled with love.
I don’t want to, I don’t want to, I don’t want to fall asleep.
Everything is precious.
