Little tricks to make you love rainy days
In a magazine project I worked on as an editorial staff member a while ago, I asked many people this question.
What do you do on a rainy day off?
I relax at home.
I do the cleaning I've been putting off.
I watch movies.
I read books.
The answers were truly varied.
What I felt at that time was,
that there are people who accept the rain,
and people who just cannot accept it at all.
I think I'll watch a movie because it's raining.
I think I'll skip the picnic and read a book because it's raining.
There were people who, while saying 'it can't be helped,' still managed to find a way to spend their day.
On the other hand, there were people for whom a rainy day meant they couldn't play their favorite tennis, making it a disappointing day. There were people like that, too.
When you can't do what you were looking forward to, the rain changes not just your plans, but your mood as well. I like going out too, so I really empathized with that.
Rainy days are lucky chance days
Among those answers, there is one I still remember today.
Rainy days are lucky chance days, so I've decided that I'm allowed to eat whatever I like for lunch.
Huh? I wondered if there was a service with that name at their favorite restaurant.
Like, maybe there's some special offer only on rainy days.
Or maybe there's a slightly better lunch deal.
But that wasn't it.
'I just decided it on my own, haha,' they said.
To enjoy a rainy day, you don't have to wait for something special to happen.
You can just make your own little rules.
I see! That's a wonderful way of thinking, I replied.
Today's lucky chance day is
Since then, I've also started to look forward to rainy days off a little bit.
I make them days for self-maintenance.
Or days to open that delicious bottle of wine I received but hadn't opened yet.
Don't just wait for things to happen; go out and grab them yourself.
It might sound a bit dramatic, but that is likely how the person you want to become is shaped.
Well then, I'm off to a head spa today.
It's not so much because it's raining.
It's precisely because it's a rainy day.
Thank you for reading ☔
