Self-Introduction | In my 60s, a recommendation for 'rebooting' rather than retiring
I started this note—
in May 2025.
Two months before that, on a day in March when the cold still lingered, I had a long-awaited reunion with a former boss from the consulting firm where I used to work.
He declared his retirement at 65, and I, being the same age, impulsively blurted out:
“I’m going to stay active until I’m 80!”
…I said it.
My mouth just ran away with me, caught up in the momentum.
But, having said that—
when I asked myself, “So, what are you going to do?”, the answer was a blank page.
How will I live the next 20 years?
That question began to stir quietly, yet surely, deep within my heart.
So, I decided to take a little inventory of myself.
When I did, this history lined up.
Went independent at 35
Established a consulting office
Provided management support to over 300 companies as a Small and Medium Enterprise Management Consultant
…Oh, look at me. I’ve actually done quite a lot, haven’t I?
When I thought that, I suddenly realized.
“Hey, isn’t it a waste to retire in your 60s?”
I still have wisdom. I still have experience.
And I still have plenty of energy to work.
In that case—
“I’ll start sharing information to energize people in their 60s and beyond!”
That was the way of “giving it my all” that I came up with.
If I’m going to do it, I want to make it a bit interesting.
And, I want to make sure it’s actually useful.
I decided to make this note my testing ground.
Of course, younger people are welcome too!
After all, you will all become “seniors” someday, too (laughs).
Aging is inevitable. But you can choose how you age.
With that thought in my heart, I am writing this note.
If my posts here can make someone's tomorrow just a little bit lighter—that is the result of my "way of doing my best."
