Designing Time
Whether you are busy with work every day or spending your time in a relaxed and leisurely manner, I believe many of you would like to use your time effectively without wasting it if possible.
This time, I would like to talk about "time" as our keyword.
☆This talk is also broadcast on stand.fm"hajime radio".
There is also a "bonus talk" at the end of the broadcast, so please be sure to listen.
The 24 hours given equally to everyone
Thanks to everyone, I also spend my days busy and fulfilled, and when my schedule is packed for a long time, I often vaguely think, "I wish I had more time." Unfortunately, however, time is fixed at 24 hours a day for everyone equally.
Many people live with some kind of dream or goal, but achieving them depends on how you use your limited time.
Even if you are dissatisfied with the family environment in which you were born and raised, you cannot change it. For those who have already entered society, it is generally difficult to change things like your educational background.
Lamenting such unchangeable environments or the past rarely leads to personal growth.
Especially for those who intend to achieve great success in business, you must focus on how much you can differentiate yourself from others and become a recognized presence in the market, and for that purpose, you need to create a significant gap with others in how you use the time given to you equally.
Designing 24 hours
Are you designing your time each day?
I design my day to make the most effective use of these24 hours given to me equally.
First, I create a big design for the month.
I first incorporate work appointments that must be included, then I incorporate time for myself, such as hair salon visits, doctor's appointments, or muscle training, and after that, I incorporate time to enjoy with family, acquaintances, and friends.
After that, I incorporate new appointments that come in almost every day, butat that time, I incorporate the schedule so that it fits into 13 hours, which is 80% of my daily activity time (about 17 hours in my case).
And when the day begins, I use about 5 minutes to design the 17 hours of today's activity time.
At this time, I decide things in quite a lot of detail based on a task list with clear priorities.
I set up schedules such as "Consultation with Mr./Ms. XX from what time to what time" and "Business meeting from what time to what time" with some leeway before and after. In other free time, I incorporate high-priority desk work and other tasks in detail by the minute, but at this time, I also incorporate time to rest my head, such as a 5-minute break at a specific time, and I make sure to take a rest when this time comes.
For me, I have named these 5 minutes "changing time," and I value them very highly. This is because this time is a precious moment to switch my thinking to move on to the next new task, and I believe that strictly adhering to this time leads to good work.
I write down the schedule designed in such detail on paper and proceed with the day accordingly. When temporary work or phone calls come in, I use the 20% of time I set aside for leeway. When nothing happens, I use this 20% of time to perform tasks scheduled for tomorrow in advance.
By designing my precious time in 5 minutes in the morning like this, I can concentrate on what I need to do without wasting thoughts on time during work.
And the most important thing is,not to half-heartedly start tasks that I decided not to do today unless there is 20% of leeway time left. Trying to force them in will lead to a decline in work quality.
When designing daily time becomes a habit like this, not only is wasted time significantly reduced, but you can also respond to unexpected matters with leeway, and above all, it leads to high-quality work.
That is all.
This time, I talked about the theme of"Designing Time".
I hope this has been a hint or helpful to you in some way.
