Mission Statement
Lately, I have been spending more time
“What do I want to cherish in my life?”
rethinking this question.
When I spend my days busy,
chasing after things,
how I want to liveI sometimes feel like I am losing sight of it.
Lectures.
Manuscripts.
Child-rearing.
Family matters.
Social media.
Consultation support.
All of them are important.
But,
if I just get through what is in front of me,
my heart gets left behind.
That is why, lately,
I have been drawn to the words
“Mission Statement.”
A Mission Statement is
putting into words the values you want to cherish in life and the feelings with which you want to live.
In other words,
a life compass
might be what it is like. As a midwife, I have been involved in the beginning of many lives.
I have seen tears of joy,
painful realities,
and loneliness that cannot be told to anyone.
Even while teaching comprehensive sex education,
there is something I have always felt.
That is,
people can change when they have “peace of mind.”
When blamed,
people close their hearts.
When threatened,
people hide their true feelings.
But,
in a place where they can feel safe,
people gradually
reclaim themselves.
That is why I,
not just with knowledge,
want to be someone who can deliver “peace of mind.”
Instead of judging someone,
I want to be someone who can say, “You are fine just as you are.”
And,
I want to create a society where both children and adults
can think, “I can choose my own life.”
Lately,
I feel this strongly.
Sex education,
child-rearing,
and mental care,
are all connected.
At the foundation,
there is human rights,
peace of mind,
and the feeling that “it is okay to cherish yourself.”
So my Mission Statement is,
surely these words.
“Creating a society where people can live as themselves, with peace of mind as the foundation.”
Still on the way.
Still unfinished.
But,
in life, I think it is fine to rewrite it as many times as you like,
and let it grow.
If you would like,
why don't you,
think about your own Mission Statement?
・When do you feel fulfilled?
・When you are doing what, do you feel like yourself?
・What kind of world do you want to leave for the next generation?
There is no correct answer.
But,
when you put it into words,
I feel like the axis of your life becomes a little clearer.
Thank you for reading today as well
