You Can Change the World by Having Composure
You cannot change others.
The only person you can change is yourself.
Others refers to
everyone other than yourself, including your family.
Even with family,
no matter how deeply your hearts are connected,
you cannot make them act exactly as you wish.
The world does not move as you wish.
This is likely because most of this world
is composed of others, not yourself.
When you go to the workplace, you are just one person,
but there are nearly 100 other people.
Even when you return home, you are one person,
but there are three other family members.
The time you get hungry,
the time you get sleepy,
and when you are in a good or bad mood
all differ from person to person.
No matter how cheerful you are
when you speak to someone,
to a person in a bad mood, it is simply unpleasant.
If you take this as a premise,
you will realize that to deal with everything,
you yourself must first
have composure.
There are various types of composure, such as:
Financial composure (money),
Mental composure (not getting irritated easily),
Physical composure (a body that doesn't tire easily),
Time-related composure (acting 5 minutes early).
These are some examples.
For example,
If you have savings exceeding 10 million yen,
you won't have trouble with your daily life today or tomorrow,
so you will likely be able to
prepare for some sudden expenses.
People who always leave the house at the last minute
and rush out in a panic
could likely just walk
by making an effort to act 5 or 10 minutes earlier.
Also, if you have mental composure,
you can lightly brush off a boss who vents their irritation from the morning
with a feeling of 'They're in high spirits again today.'
(You must not show this in your attitude.)
Through your mindset and efforts
to create your own time,
you can control your own composure
to a certain extent.
There are people in the world who
hurt others with malicious intent.
To continue receiving that malice
as it is,
our human hearts
are far too fragile.
Taking the example of the grumpy boss,
the reason for the boss's bad mood
is something you cannot do anything about with your own efforts.
In that person's background,
their home life might not be going well.
Their daughter might be in a rebellious phase.
They might be frustrated by a reality that isn't going as they wish.
These are just some of the various possibilities.
To take each person's irritation
seriously is...
I need to be given a special allowance.
(Such as a 50,000 yen counseling allowance for an old man)
I am saying this as a joke, but
in this world, there may be people who are truly
being complained to or yelled at every single day.
(Though it is likely decreasing due to the spread of awareness about power harassment.)
I believe that in order to live in this world without breaking your heart,
you need the ability to let things slide.
What is necessary to obtain that 'ability to let things slide'
is having space.
You can create space for yourself.
Make the effort to create space for yourself,
and for things that cannot be helped by your own efforts,
either let them slide or accept them.
By expanding your own capacity,
you will stop being surprised
by a certain degree of unforeseen circumstances.
The only way to change your world
is by expanding your own space (capacity)!
