[Tokyo Racecourse] Zero crowd fatigue! The playground I visited with my 1-year-old was a hidden gem for families

Don't you think "horse racing" and "child-rearing" seem worlds apart?

Actually, I thought so too.

However, after hearing the rumor that "Tokyo Racecourse has an amazing playground for kids," I decided to go with my 1-year-and-8-month-old son, Baccho🌱, and it was even more

"perfect for kids" and family-friendly
than I imagined, so I've put together my experience here💨

I've summarized the best points!💡

・Directly connected to the station via a covered walkway
・Vast grounds with plenty of play equipment. Safe for kids to run around.
・For some reason, there are Anpanman stone statues
・Great lineup of restaurants & a god-tier crowd avoidance system
・You can also watch the powerful horse races!

It was a place where not only the kids but we adults could really enjoy ourselves,
making me think, "I definitely want to come back!"
so I'll explain it in detail!

🚃 Directly connected from the station! A magical path that gets you excited

We headed there from JR Fuchu-Hommachi Station.
Once we got off the train, there were horses everywhere! Horses!
The feeling of being somewhere extraordinary starts right from the station, which is exciting.

And, there is a
covered walkway that connects all the way from the station to the Tokyo Racecourse!

Entrance to a theme park

Theme park-like music was playing,
it felt like the path leading to Disneyland,
and my excitement was building, haha

It's about a 10-minute walk, but photos of legendary horses are displayed along the way,
so it's fun just walking there.

🉐Great deal!
Admission is usually 200 yen, but if you buy your ticket via the app, it's 100 yen! Children under 15 are free, so the app is definitely the way to go✨

Personally, I hadn't been to a racecourse since I was in elementary school, so
I was stuck with the image of it being a bit dingy
(sorry about that😂), so
I was surprised by how vast the grounds were and how clean the facilities were!

As soon as you enter, there's the racetrack, which is so impressive🐎!
The spectator area also has a roof, so it looks comfortable.

🛝 No worries about getting lost! Run around to your heart's content in the vast playground

When kids are at the age where they run around,
you get nervous and tired worrying about them bumping into people or if there are dangerous obstacles, don't you?😵‍💫

In that regard, Tokyo Racecourse is just so vast!!
It was such a relief not to have to worry about that!!

Baccho🌱 has a personality where they dash off immediately, so
I was moved by how easy it is to not feel mentally exhausted😂

This time, we went to
two areas where kids can play!

🌿〈KIDS GARDEN〉

Believe it or not, there's a playground inside the racetrack!
This area is further divided into smaller sections.

KIDS GARDEN Map

📍 Kids Area/Lawn Area

This area is exclusively for children aged 1 to preschool age.
It is fully fenced, so you can let even small children play with peace of mind!

This is a real lifesaver!!

There are also plenty of playground equipment unique to a racecourse!
There is even a spot where you can pretend to be a jockey,
and I couldn't stop taking pictures 😆

I personally found the Currypanman sitting there like a little Jizo statue hilarious.

Next door, there is alsoa giant trampoline limited to children aged 3 to 6!

It is a 3-minute rotation system, so it doesn't get overcrowded, which is another reassuring point.
I definitely want to let my child try it once they turn 3!

I forgot to take pictures of the lawn area 😥,
but there is a lawn as wide as the kids' area,
and it's perfect for kids who just want to run around!

📍 Swing Area

They even had a type of swing that small children can fit into snugly without falling out!

There was a line this time, so I'll try again next time!

📍 Shinkansen Area

Believe it or not,you can ride a mini Shinkansen for free!
This is an irresistible area for kids who love trains.

Quoted from the official Tokyo Racecourse website

When I went around 2 PM, there was a 60-minute wait...
I underestimated the 'free' aspect... Next time for sure!!

The adjacent playground equipment is also large and attractive!
I think the equipment here is more for elementary school students.

There are restrooms and food trucks right in front of the playground equipment,
so it's a huge help to be able to handle anything right away!

📍 Stage Area

There is a large fluffy dome for elementary school students and older to play on.
(This also has a 3-minute rotation system)

🍼 Restroom & Nursing Room Information

There was a restroom and nursing room right next to the kids' area!

I didn't use them this time,
but after looking online, many people said they were very clean,
so I'll try using them next time 🎶

🍨 Kiosk

There are also snack and dessert kiosks near the kids' area,
and I grabbed a soft-serve ice cream while taking a break!

Strawberry and vanilla swirl

There were many other varieties as well.
Please note that it is cash only!

🌿 <Hiyoshigaoka Park>

Located at the very back of Tokyo Racecourse,
this is a park area with playground equipment and water play features.

Quoted from the official Tokyo Racecourse website

There were lots of kids playing in the water
at the fountain that sprays water randomly!
They looked like they were having so much fun.

If I showed it to Baccho🌱, it looked like he would jump in and cause a disaster,
so we left early this time lol

🔴 Why is this here 😂 A surreal Anpanman stone statue

If you have a child who loves Anpanman,
this is an area you absolutely must take them to!

For some reason, there is a row of stone statues of Anpanman and his friends.

It was cute seeing Bacho🌱 run up in high spirits for his first encounter with Anpanman...

It's a bit surreal that his first meeting was with stone statues, isn't it?

Anpanman characters all gathered together!!

I wondered why there was Anpanman at a racecourse, so I Googled it.

It's because the JRA values its role as a 'huge park' where families with children can enjoy themselves all day long.

Quoted from Google AI

I didn't know the JRA was a company that even considers families with children...! Thank you, JRA!!

Actually, after seeing Anpanman, Bacho🌱's excitement went through the roof!

He told me, 'Look, there's Anpanman!'

*In Bacho🌱's mind, everyone except Dokin-chan and Kokin-chan is recognized as Anpanman. Lol

There was a lawn right next to it, and many people were having picnics!

Since there's nothing around, he started dashing here too!
It's really easy since I don't have to worry about him bumping into anyone!

There was a racetrack right near the lawn, and we were able to watch the race too!
Bacho🌱 was also excited, saying 'Oh!!'😆

At the nearby horse riding center, we were also able to see horses taking a break.

🍴A god-tier system to avoid crowds! Gourmet food that leaves you satisfied without needing to bring anything

Finding a restaurant with kids is really tough, isn't it?

However, Tokyo Racecourse has a
god-tier system where you can see a list of which restaurants have open seats on your smartphone
!✨

This is a screenshot from around 12:30 PM.

You can access this screen just by scanning the QR codes posted in the hallways and restrooms!

It eliminates the common
parenting struggle of wasting time going to a place only to find it's full🥲
It's incredibly convenient!

We checked the availability and headed to
Tonkatsu Musashi on the 5th floor!

They had high chairs (without belts), water, and forks and spoons ready,
so they were well-prepared for families!

We didn't borrow a chair and entered with our stroller instead✨

I had the katsu curry!
There was no kids' menu, so
Baccho🌱 had the bread we brought and
we ordered some rolled omelet for him!

I took the photo after he had already eaten one egg! There were four at first!

There were plenty of other restaurants too, so
I just took photos of the menus!

I think "Oshokujidokoro Iso" is the only place with a kids' menu.

🏢 Spacious and comfortable walking paths in a vast facility

Look at this wide, empty path!

There are many paths like this, so
it's safe to let my 1-year-and-8-month-old wild child run free.

There is greenery here and there, and it's also great to be able to touch nature◎

Baccho🌱 found an ant and said "scary," haha.

There were also many people having picnics right in front of the racetrack🧺

Just bringing a bento and watching the horses
seems like it would make for a perfect holiday!
