🎼 'Dragon Night' learned from my son
This time, it's about 'what my son taught me'.
Recently, my son has been humming happily 😚🎵
It's rare for him to sing a song that isn't about trains.
Yes, I was listening to him absentmindedly.
He is a 🚃 train geek.
The sounds that come from him
are always related to trains.
Train running sounds, announcements inside the train...
His songs are usually collections of departure melodies 🎵
And yet!!
The song my son was humming was
'Dragon Night' by SEKAI NO OWARI
The reason he knew it was, as expected, related to trains, but...
I never expected him to sing SEKAI NO OWARI.
It was a surprising event for our family 😳
But, this is where it got even more
surprising... 😳
When I asked, 'You're singing something unusual, aren't you?'
'They say this song is about the Christmas truce during World War I.'
What?!! 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
An incredible answer came back.
I never thought he would know about the Christmas truce!
I thought he just sang it because it got stuck in his head, but I was stunned that he actually knew the content!
I didn't think it was a song with that kind of theme,
so I was surprised and searched for a video with lyrics on YouTube.
The images that jumped out at me
tightened my chest,
and they pierced my heart along with the lyrics.
I knew the song,
but I hadn't paid attention to the lyrics.
It has a bright and pop image,
and a fun atmosphere 🎵
So, I had assumed it was a fun song with a vibe like,
'Yeah! Let's all dance! 🤩'
This is the official music video (English ver.).
When you watch it after knowing the meaning,
what you feel is completely different 🥺
......The content was completely different....
How foolish of me to make assumptions without knowing the content...
I was stunned.
I didn't know it was such an amazing song!
This pop and bright melody,
the atmosphere of 'let's dance!',
there was a hidden extreme reality behind it:
if we miss this day,
we might never again feel alive
or have a day where we can dance.
Trying to enjoy ourselves as much as possible in the midst of hardship.
And the fact that my son knew about the Christmas truce,
and that he remembered it
as the meaning of this song,
and kept it in his heart,
🥹
We listened to the song together again,
read the lyrics carefully,
and it became an opportunity to think about war.
My son, thank you for learning about this song instead of just passing it by 🥹
Thank you for the lesson.

SEKAI NO OWARI 'Dragon Night'
How did you feel about it?
May the world be wrapped in a warm atmosphere
where people can smile at one another...
I pray for such a peaceful world🙏✨
Thank you for reading
🪖
From here on, it will be a long post again, so
for those who have the time or are interested,
I would be happy if you could read it😌
🪖⚔️🤝🪖
From here on is my personal interpretation😌
The choice of a truce
🎄 During the Christmas truce, it seems some units rested and
others did not, but
based on the belief of 'Christmas',
even if only for a moment,
it was a day when they were able to stop fighting
Yes,it can be stopped.
Even if just for one day, they did not fight.
They were able to spend time without hurting others!
There are days when I could spend time without getting hurt myself!
Maybe it can be stopped!!
In truth, no one wants to fight.
They just have to move forward,
believing it is justice, because they have no choice.
They fight because there is a reason to fight.
If there is a reason to stop, they can stop.
Which one you choose is a major crossroads
Japan is a country that found a reason to stop.
People might say it's just window dressing, or that we only provide money,
and various other things.
If you say money is complicity, then perhaps it is...
but Japan chose a justice that does not fight!
I think this is a wonderful decision.
I am grateful for the happiness of living in a rich country like Japan,
where we can live safely and securely, and
I wish for it to remain peaceful forever...
I just happened to be born in Japan.
Thankfully...
If I had been born in a country that is constantly at war,
I would have to carry a weapon at all times, and
depending on the situation,
even if against my will,
I would have to...
hurt someone who is precious to someone else...
there is a reality where I would have to hurt someone I just met today
【People each have their own justice】
I really empathized with these lyrics.
When I see villains or unreasonable people,
I have a habit of thinking about what their justice is,
searching for a reason, and convincing myself.
This is also my policy
not to look at things only by their results or surface.
I say such cool things, but
I am not always able to do it.
But I want to be that way.
It is fine for each person to have their own justice, and
to have beliefs regarding justice,
to feel a sense of discomfort, like 'isn't this strange?'
I think that is necessary and important, and
without that, a better world cannot be built.
This world is made up of each person's own justice🌎
Without justice, order would be disrupted.
It is certainly something important.
However, if justice is disrupting order,
it is justice that defeats its own purpose.
Such justice is not needed.
Conflicts happen because both sides' justice cannot coexist and they clash.
I think it is because they force the idea that
'my own justice is everything and is correct'.
Rigid thinking, obsession, selfish justice...
Arrogance that does not accept others' opinions
is a sign of being unable to see many perspectives,
and I think it is a state of being unable to think flexibly.
Because I am right, those who do not follow are evil.
For such one-sided reasons...
they try to exclude others.
How much is a justice worth that must be upheld
even at the cost of taking lives?
People who believe without doubt that it is a necessary justice
no matter the cost are the ones who cause conflict.
I think it is good to try to appeal for what is right.
It is natural for each person to have different thoughts.
However, forcing that, taking lives,
and not trying to listen to other opinions at all,
what does that produce in the end?
There is the fact that...
I say this without having experienced war.
In fact, I know nothing...
But I know that clashing with justice through conflict
is wrong.
Humans have been given advanced wisdom, communication,
and the special ability to care for others and share laughter.
And yet...
Humans are the only ones on this Earth who use weapons.
I ask my son,
Is there no other way besides fighting?
Do you want to go to war?
Do you think this method is right?
I don't.
That is the answer from those who will carry the future.
I want those who will live in the future
to lead rich and happy lives.
I want them to spend many days together, grow together,
and leave behind a slightly better future.
Between adults who wish for peace
and adults who want to go to war,
which group is larger?
Ending war is possible.
That option still remains.
That is the answer for the future that should exist now.
That is what I think...
What is this single day of truce
trying to tell us?
I truly felt that it was
very good to be able to learn about this song
at this very moment.
I thought about war with my son,
and was given time to think about
what is being fought over now,
what is being lost,
and why sadness is spreading.
So that I don't forget these important things,
I wrote down what I thought
in this note.
Please excuse the disorganized writing,
as I just wrote down my thoughts as they came.
Thank you for reading this long post
until the end!
🕊️💕🤝✨🍀
