[Poem] Theory of Development

The pure white photographic paper does not yet know anyone's memories.

In the darkness of the darkroom, light that has transcended time and space gathers.

The spectrum of light touches the silver crystals, and
carves an invisible promise called a latent image.

There is no form there yet,

but the memory that it 'was' certainly
sleeps quietly.

When the question called developer is poured in,
the silent particles slowly reveal themselves.

The memories of light are becoming bare.

It is as if the heart is laying bare
the light gathered by the laws of nature.

A profile, a gaze, even the trembling air,
emerging there as an image.

Photography is the work of the laws of nature that turn light into silver,

Photography is the prayer of the heart that turns a moment into a memory.

But light is not bound by time and space,

it is an existence that unravels freely, anywhere.

Therefore, I pour in the fixer,
and gently tether it with chains of silver.

When you leave the darkroom,
there is a single sheet of paper in your hand.

Though it should be cold, warmth remains within it.

Light does not vanish.

From the moment it touches the heart,
it becomes a memory.

And that memory,
deep in the palm of your hand,
is quietly traveling through time and space.
Forever.
