The Problem of What to Do About Snacks During Children's Summer Vacation!!
Why on earth does summer vacation even exist!!
I find myself shouting that almost every day.
Last year, my daughter was not attending school, so when summer vacation started,
I felt relieved that I wouldn't have to call the school to report her absence,
but this year,
I am dreading summer vacation so much.
The reason is very simple:
What am I supposed to do about lunch and snacks?
If she were going to school,
she would eat school lunch,
so I wouldn't need to prepare lunch.
If it were just me,
I could have ochazuke or rice with a raw egg,
or even just some rice crackers if I wanted.
But that doesn't work for my daughter.
"What's for lunch today?"
she asks right after eating breakfast.
I haven't even washed the breakfast dishes yet, you know?
It's already hard enough to think of a menu for dinner
and now I have to think about lunch too.
And then, there's snacks.
Do they still need a 3 o'clock snack even in middle school?
No, no,
once they're in middle school,
snack time is whenever they feel like eating.
Lately, the amount of snacks per bag has been decreasing.
I guess they're reducing the quantity because they can't raise the price.
If the amount is small, a single bag
gets eaten in the blink of an eye.
Maybe I should just
buy a big bag of potato chips from Costco.
No, no, if I do that,
they'll probably get bored of them halfway through and stop eating them.
So, I decided to make easy microwave steamed bread.
In the photo, only 9 are shown, but
I actually make 12 of them

First, put the basic ingredients into the cups

Next, add your favorite ingredients; this time, I used cocoa and kinako, and
milk & chocolate chips

Last time, when I put the chocolate chips in at the beginning, they
sank perfectly to the bottom, so
this time I took them out halfway through, added the chocolate chips as a
topping, and reheated them

All done!!
Once they cool down, wrap them up and put them in the freezer
I thought that with this many,
they would last for a while, but...
They were gone in no time 😊
“Next time, I want one with jam!”
“Make the ham and cheese ones again!”
Requests from my daughter
Snack costs really add up,
and since my daughter is happy with them,
I'll make them again 😊
Since she'll get bored if it's always the same thing,
I'll think of some other snacks too 😊
🌸Easy Microwave Steamed Bread🌸
Use 250ml cups from a 100-yen shop
(Basic Ingredients)
・Rice flour (or wheat flour) 2 tablespoons
・Sugar 1 tablespoon
・Milk 2 tablespoons
・Egg 1
・Baking powder 1/4 teaspoon
(Ingredients to Add)
Cocoa: 1 teaspoon
Kinako (roasted soybean flour): 1 tablespoon
Condensed milk: 1 tablespoon
Skim milk: 1/2 tablespoon
(Instructions)
Add your preferred ingredients to the basic ingredients,
mix well, put them in the microwave one by one,
and heat at 600W for 1 minute and 30 seconds, and it's done!!
Last time, the chocolate chips sank to the bottom, so
this time, I heated it for 1 minute,
added the chocolate chips as a topping,
and heated it for another 30 seconds🙂
※If you try to heat multiple at once,
it will heat unevenly, so please heat them one by one
You can eat them while they are warm,
or wrap them and store them in the freezer😊
