CRUST

This time, I'm writing about the red leather in the imageᝰ✍🏻
It's something I bought at Kawamura Leather's Viaggio Nagoya, which I mentioned in a previous post.

The name is 'CRUST', and the size is A4.

What I made

A4, 2mm thick red leather... I worried for a while about what to make with it, but I decided on a pouch for my bank passbooks👛. Even though I live a mostly cashless life, I go to the bank I use primarily once a month, so I wanted something thin to carry around.

Impressions
It's stiff. Since it was 2mm thick leather, I tried using weights to fold it over time.
It's stiff, but it wasn't hard to cut.
Punching holes, skiving edges, and burnishing are easy to do cleanly.
It was a beautiful leather that was satisfying to look at and satisfying to touch✨️

Features of Crust
Manufactured by La Perla Azzurra in Italy.
Vegetable tanned (Vacchetta method), dye finished, drum-dyed, smooth finish.
You can enjoy the aging process.

Summary
Since it's a leather that ages well, I thought I'd like to keep a record of it after six months, a year, and so on! Changes vary depending on usage and dye color, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this pouch changes😆
Taking advantage of the stiffness of the Crust, I'm thinking of making a glasses case next

Finally
The first leather I've worked with, 'CRUST'.
I might not have chosen it just by looking at the online shop? (I often agonize in front of the screen for a long time lol)
Being able to see it in person, touch it, and hear the staff's stories made me feel like I wanted to use it. After making something with it, I felt the quality of the leather even more.
I'm grateful to Kawamura Leather for coming to Nagoya🙏
