It's fun to cook after listening to the voices of vegetables.

The other day, someone was talking about cooking by listening to the voices of vegetables.

That person is Mr. Niizeki, and he comes across as very unique, doesn't he?

But actually, I had been wanting to meet someone like that for a long time.

I had heard somewhere that there are people who cook by listening to the voices of vegetables.

So, it feels like I miraculously met such a person.

At that time, I learned about him through Cookie-san, who runs a bookstore that doesn't sell books.

I think it might be that for the things I truly desire, connections always seem to open up from people who are related in one way or another, and I am feeling deeply grateful for this experience.

Now, back to when I was listening to the Facebook Live with Cookie-san and Mr. Niizeki.

Mr. Niizeki answers Cookie-san's question, "How do you ask them?"

He says, "It's like asking, 'Is there anyone who wants to come home with me today?'"

I thought, "Oh? Is that how you listen to them?" ♡

The moment I heard that!

I immediately started feeling excited.

Hehehe.


After that Facebook Live ended, without a moment's delay, I immediately went to my usual greengrocer.

I couldn't sit still just thinking about the moment I would talk to them.

Gradually, my pace turned into a light jog (laughs).

So, standing in front of the vegetables,

I tried asking them in my heart, just as Mr. Niizeki said.

At that moment, what caught my eye were the carrots and the enoki mushrooms.

I see, I'm going home with these guys today!

After that, feeling lighthearted,

I quickly headed home.

When I got home and opened the refrigerator, the cabbage that always looked so ordinary was sitting there majestically, as if it were appealing to me to use it.

And so, for the first time, I tried cutting it while asking the cabbage for its permission.

In no time at all, I made four vegetable dishes.

One of the things I finished making was cabbage rolls.

It is a stewed dish with carrots and enoki mushrooms inside the cabbage leaves.

It was a dish I never would have thought of myself, but it was very healthy, and it tasted so delicious that I gobbled it all up.

I was also told that for the softer parts of the cabbage, I should eat the raw cabbage as a snack. At that time, with a little bit of miso on it!

So, I have this real-life experience of having whipped up about four dishes in no time at all that day.

I was so surprised, happy, and had so much fun, and the time just flew by.

Isn't it wonderful to listen to the voices of vegetables?

When I do that, things I could never have imagined end up being created.

And above all, it reminded me of the day when I was a child and had to replace the shoes I always loved wearing with new ones.

I now realize that spending time interacting with things, just like I did when I was a child, is a very warm and enriching experience.

Therefore, talking to things isn't something I've never done before; I always say things like, 'Thank you!', 'I'm off!', or 'That was delicious, thank you for the meal!' in the kitchen.

Besides that, I also talk to the wind; when a pleasant breeze blows, I tell the wind that it feels nice, and I do things like that all the time.

Maybe it's close to being a little grateful.


Coming here, I remembered for the first time in a while that everything has an identity, and I wanted to share that.
