Chapter 2: Why You Are Not There (Continued)

Because I'm afraid to go there

There is another
very big reason.

That is
because it's scary...

People often
"I'm afraid of failure"
they say, right?

But in reality,
it's a little different.

What people are truly afraid of
is not failure,

what is scary
is that you will change.

For example,

when you truly start living your own life,
your existing relationships will begin to change.

When you truly start living by your own values,
your existing
environment may no longer fit.

When you truly start living by your own true feelings,
the person you were
until now may break down.

That is why people,

while saying they want to change,
look for reasons not to.

"I'm not ready yet"
"The timing is bad"
"I'm busy right now"

But that
is not a matter of ability,

it is a matter of self-worth.

Unless you can
sincerely believe that you
are worthy of living that life,

people will unconsciously
make their own lives smaller.

In the case of women,

there is one more
major characteristic here.

That is
the strong ability to adapt to those around them.

Reading the room.
Being considerate of others.
Not disrupting the atmosphere.

This is originally
a very beautiful power.

But if this power is too strong,

women
will end up living
the lives of those around them,
rather than their own.

Someone's expectations,
someone's values,
someone's common sense,

they end up using their lives
to protect those things.

But
a woman's dignity

is not about
conforming to someone else.

It is about having the resolve
to live your own life.

1. Knowing your own true feelings,
2. Recognizing your own worth,
3. Choosing a way of life

that does not betray yourself.

That is
not a big decision,

but lies within the small, small
choices of everyday life.

Saying "NO" to things
you actually dislike.

Saying "YES" to things
you actually want to do.

When you become able to make
those small choices
for your own sake,

your life

will quietly,
but surely,

begin to change.
