Is AI Fortune-Telling a Scam? Or Is It a Tool to Enrich the Future?

Recently, I have been seeing the term "AI fortune-telling" more and more often.
For example, if you ask ChatGPT (hereafter referred to as AI) a question, it returns an answer in a few seconds.
It is a fact that more people are being drawn to this convenience and trying it out.

However, I also hear comments like these from those who have actually experienced it.

“The Four Pillars of Destiny results were completely nonsensical.”
“The horoscope reading was shallow.”
“It just returned plausible-sounding text, but it didn't resonate with my heart.”
“It was just full of overly positive words and lacked depth.”

I myself have had the experience of having an AI read my fortune based on my date of birth in the past👇

I tried it back when it was ChatGPT 4o, so now that it has been upgraded to 5, the accuracy might have improved. However, scrutiny by the fortune-teller side will always be necessary. Even now that it is version 5, I still do not want to use AI for Mei-sen (divination based on date of birth).

This is because one of the characteristics of AI is that it “answers even ambiguous things with complete confidence.” point.

In fields like fortune-telling where diverse interpretations are possible, it is easy for the reading to be superficially persuasive but substantively thin. If you turn such readings into products as they are, even if the fortune-teller themselves has no malicious intent, there is a possibility that it could become “unconscious fraud.”

So, are AI and fortune-telling incompatible? I don't think so.

In other words, AI cannot replace a fortune-teller, but it can be utilized as a tool to support the fortune-teller.

The fortune-teller draws the cards, reads the horoscope, and unravels the destiny chart. Then, they utilize AI at the stage of turning that into words that reach the client.

This combination raises the quality of the reading and creates a reading that is easier for the client to understand and more likely to reach their heart.

To me, AI is like “a pencil and an eraser.” It is a slightly clever auxiliary tool, a good buddy that provides phrasing I wouldn't think of. However, checking and rewriting are essential. If you leave it to AI, your credibility will be easily damaged, and conversely, if you use AI correctly, your readings will be enriched.

As you will understand when you actually use it, introducing AI does not dramatically shorten work time. Because I verify the output, adjust the words, and rewrite many times, in my case, it's not that I can handle more volume, but rather the feeling that the effort has increased to improve quality.

Ultimately, AI can be a scam, and it can also be a tool that enriches the future. Deciding which one it becomes depends on how the fortune-teller handles the AI.

If the fortune-teller themselves performs the reading, uses AI as an aid, and delivers words with responsibility and sincerity, AI will definitely become a strength for the reading. Conversely, if you sell the output as is without scrutinizing it, that is an act that destroys the fortune-teller's credibility.

If I were to clarify my position as a fortune-teller, it would be: "There is no need to fear AI. However, it is better to avoid the foolishness of becoming dependent on AI." That might be the way to live in the AI era.
