Prepare how to finish, first.
When starting a task,
I tend to think only about what to do.
How far to progress today,
how much I can focus.
Even before starting,
I feel like I'm putting in a bit too much effort.
But, regarding how to finish,
I feel like I often don't think about it much.
Before I knew it, time had passed,
or I would keep going, thinking 'just a little more'.
With the ending left vague,
there were times I would just close out the day.
Recently,
before starting,
I make sure to prepare how I will finish.
I don't set strict times or amounts.
I'll stop here today,
I'll close once I reach this point.
It's just a small marker
like that.
When the ending is decided,
the way I exert effort during the task changes.
That's because I don't have to evaluate
how far I got later on.
Before,
I felt it was a waste
to decide on an ending.
I think I felt
that I could still do more,
that I could still keep going.
But now,
I feel that precisely because I have a way to finish,
it's easier to return to it next time.
Even if I don't finish it perfectly,
it's enough if there is something left to continue.
Prepare how to finish, first.
That might be
more of a preparation
to avoid leaving fatigue behind,
rather than just to divide up the work.
Since I started thinking that way,
the end of my work
has become a little quieter.
