When Aunt Koharu Arrives, the League Begins
Aunt Koharu has arrived.
It is her custom to visit our home riding on the first winds of spring.
Everyone looks forward to this day.
Common vetch, wild garlic, butterbur sprouts, horsetails, and shepherd's purse.
When Auntie arrives, they all start making noise at once.
It is noisy, but since it was quiet all through the winter,
I also feel excited and happy.
And soon, the long league that lasts until autumn begins.
The "Wild Grass vs. Me" weeding league match.
I make use of electric brush cutters and lawn mowers, but this is seriously tough.
During the peak season in June and July, I mow the grass around the house and fields once every two weeks.
Since that continues until November, the duration is almost the same as the MLB.
It is so tough that there are times I wish, like in winter, that "everyone would just stay asleep," but I find myself in a bind because I definitely feel much better when everything is lush and vibrant.
