Quiet Rain
Transparent droplets from the sky...
Plop... they fell...
In that atmosphere, I remembered your tears from that time...
I remembered...
Droplets overflowing...
Along with sobs
Your tears, they would not stop...
Gently
I stroked your back...
It is okay to cry...
I whispered...
I held you tightly...
If I had wings
I would shelter you forever...
A pain shot through my heart at that thought...
Trembling with helplessness
To you, on the verge of falling into a deep, ink-black darkness...
In my heart, too
A faint ink-black color dwells...

Droplets, flowing slowly
The great waves of your heart
Grow small, so small...
Becoming calm...
Gradually, the deep ink color
Fades... and fades...
Gently, in your heart
The color-sound of clear spring water resonates...
And so, you gazed at me...
Slowly, gracefully...
Let us weave our hearts together, the two of us...
You, who made me speak such words...
Now, are you
Still crying?
Even as you melt into the cosmos
Are you still crying, I wonder...
The rain and wind leave behind a gentle lingering echo
And drift elegantly...

[Afterword]
It started raining in the evening.
Suddenly... I remembered my best friend who passed away.
After a long battle with illness, she passed away last year.
The rain felt like her tears...
And the words just overflowed.
Thank you for reading my clumsy poem.
