ChatGPT Seminar for Seniors Practice Report Part 1: Started a 3-Session Course for Beginners (No. 126)

After the release of my book, 'Enjoy Every Day: ChatGPT on Your Smartphone for Those Over 70,' I received a request from a local community leader asking, 'Could you hold a ChatGPT utilization seminar for members involved in local activities?'

Since I had been thinking that I would like to try my hand at seminars, I decided to accept the offer.

This seminar was aimed at absolute beginners and consisted of three 2-hour sessions covering the following content.

Session 1

● What ChatGPT means for seniors
● What is ChatGPT (Generative AI) and what can it do?
● Installing the app on your smartphone
● Differences between the free and paid versions
● Basic usage, tips for asking questions, and examples of questions
● Precautions for safe use

● Practical exercise (creating your own illustrations or illustrations in a specific style)

Session 2

● How to ask questions to ChatGPT
(Specifying roles for ChatGPT and specifying who to talk to)
● Let's consult ChatGPT about local activity issues (group work)
● Presentations and Q&A

Session 3

● Discussing and presenting 'what was helpful' and 'what didn't go well' using ChatGPT

● Ways to use ChatGPT more conveniently
* How to identify fraudulent information
* How to deepen content while continuing to ask questions
* How to organize content while having ChatGPT ask you questions
* How to organize chat history (renaming, deleting, creating folders)

Each session of this seminar had about 12 to 16 participants. Since it was a small group, I made an effort to provide individual support while actually looking at each person's smartphone to ensure that as few people as possible were left behind.

That said, some people were unable to install the app properly depending on their smartphone model. In such cases, I guided them on how to use ChatGPT via a browser, and they were able to use it without any problems.

I felt that if possible, having another person besides the instructor to support smartphone operations would make things run even more smoothly.

Even so, many people actually started using ChatGPT, and I was happy to receive comments like, 'It's like I've got my own personal secretary.' I feel that this was a good start for a seminar aimed at beginners.

From the next installment onwards, I would like to introduce what I noticed through this seminar and how the participants started to utilize ChatGPT, while including concrete examples.

Thank you for reading until the end! I will continue to post articles that are helpful to everyone, so it would be encouraging if you could 'like,' 'comment,' or 'follow.' Thank you for your support!
