Something felt off when picking up my daughter from the kindergarten bus. The story of how her pants were different from the morning | Parenting Diary | Kindergarten | Parenting Anecdotes
Mom is away today.
For a change, I was in charge of picking up my 3-year-old daughter from the kindergarten bus.
I am a salaryman dad
raising a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old.
The bus stopped, and I waved at my daughter.
…Huh?
Wait, did she even own those pants?
They are different from this morning.
I’m sure I put her in plaid pants this morning.
But now, the girl in front of me is wearing green pants. And they are clearly a bit too big.
A meeting starts in my brain in an instant.
“This must be… an accident.”
Just when potty training was finally settling down, too.
Well, she’s 3, so it doesn’t always go perfectly.
Telling myself that, I asked her.
“…Did you have an accident?”
“What happened to those pants?”
My daughter just gave me a huge smile, with zero sign of guilt.
She said just one thing.
“I jumped into a puddle!”
Now that she mentions it, she’s wearing her shoes over plastic bags.
That’s what happened!?
It wasn’t an accident, she dove in on purpose!?
Today was the last day of kindergarten for the year.
It ended with an unexpected puddle dive.
Seeing my daughter laughing so happily, I couldn’t say anything else.
Memories are more important than pants… probably.
I thought I’d wash them in the bathroom and dry them secretly before Mom got home,
but I left them out to dry and got caught immediately.
Both of us are pretty careless.

or if your child does things this wild,
