Released on August 7, 2013, by Payne City. This is the second album by Washed Out, the solo project of Ernest Greene from Macon, Georgia. Evolving from the chillwave synth sound of his debut, "Within and Without," this 41-minute, 4-second, 9-track album features deeper orchestral, organic textures and a sense of weightlessness.

Washed Out the musician
Real name Ernest Greene. He began recording in his parents' home in Georgia in 2009, and his "Life of Leisure EP" gained attention online, catapulting him to fame as a standard-bearer of the chillwave movement. By layering synthesizers, sampling, and vocoder-processed vocals, he continues to create music that seems to sway on the boundary between reality and dreams.

"Paracosm" the album
Label: Payne City. 9 tracks, 41 minutes and 4 seconds. A "paracosm" is a detailed imaginary world created by a child in their mind. True to its name, this work recreates a private universe where Greene's own memories and imagination melt together through sound. Compared to his previous work, it has more of an acoustic warmth, characterized by a soundscape where flutes and strings dissolve into a haze of synths.

The opener, "Entrance," is an introduction that feels like a curtain rising quietly, while "It All Feels Right" creates a summer heat haze with its hazy vocals and soft beats. "Weightless" forms the core of the album, with a sense of buoyancy as if literally released from gravity.
"Great Escape" has a sweet sense of speed, like escaping into a distant summer memory, and the title track, "Paracosm," is a meditative six minutes of total immersion in a world of one's own. "All over Now" closes the album with a lingering feeling, like slowly waking from a dream.
