[Genmai no Manma.] Soaking in fireflies.

The light of a firefly, it is the flame of life.




The other day, I wanted to show my wife, Komeyome, some fireflies, so we went out at night.


I grew up in the countryside, so I used to see them often back in the day, but
lately, I hardly ever see fireflies anymore.


About 10 years had passed since I last thought about wanting to see them again😅.




Actually, a sign came from the universe.

Hey, Rice, today is your chance!!It said. Haha.




When I looked it up, it really wasthe perfect chance right now!!


Since there was a place where fireflies could be seen within 20 minutes of our house (which was also lucky), I took Komeyome, got in the car, and headed to the location.




There were a few other firefly tourists at the site, but it was relatively empty.




And then...They were there, the fireflies.




The light of a firefly is so gentle, soft, and full of compassion, isn't it?☺️


Watching them truly calms the heart.


Every now and then, the fireflies would draw constellations for us.

Orion and Cassiopeia.

It was a magnificent performance.




Completely healed by the fireflies, we were enchanted as we headed home.




Do you all know the lifespan of a firefly?


When I looked it up, it turns out it's only about 7 to 10 days.


Shorter than a cicada.


They spend a year as an egg or larva, and then burn their final life as an adult.


During that short time, they release that gentle light to heal our hearts.




It really touches the heart, doesn't it?🥲🥹


What a fleeting light, truly the flame of life.




The preciousness of life, fleeting yet beautiful, that the fireflies taught us.
