A story about how I misunderstood the lyrics to a song called 'Takane no Hanako-san' and ended up performing a one-person Unjash-style comedy of errors
This is a completely trivial story, but I believe there is a song called 'Takane no Hanako-san' sung by Iyori Shimizu, and although I had been listening to it, I had never actually looked at the lyrics.
Because of that, I ended up living with a ridiculous misunderstanding for an entire year.
The reason I started listening to this song was that it came up as a recommendation on Spotify.
As I was listening to it casually, I heard the beginning of the lyrics, 'Kimi kara mita boku wa kitto tada no tomodachi no tomodachi~' (From your perspective, I'm surely just a friend of a friend~), as 'Kimi kara mita boku wa kitto papa no tomodachi no tomodachi~' (From your perspective, I'm surely a friend of my dad's friend~), and right from the start, I thought, 'What a creepy song!!!' ←
Because I misunderstood the beginning as 'a friend of my dad's friend,' every lyric that followed was played back in my brain as being about a friend of a dad (a middle-aged man) targeting a student.
(My perception was that of a creepy middle-aged man targeting the daughter of his friend's friend.)
Furthermore, at the lyric 'Umi ni sasou yuuki mo nai kuruma mo nai' (I don't have the courage to invite you to the beach, I don't even have a car), my inner self screamed even louder.
'You don't even have a car either!!!!!!!!' ←
In my mind, this was a friend of a dad who was likely 20 years older than her.
He had no adult composure and didn't even have a car.
I felt a sense of disgust toward the person who wrote the lyrics, wondering why they had created such a song.
However, putting the creepiness of the lyrics aside, I liked the melody and tempo of the song, so I kept listening to it. ← Even though I was such a klutz that I couldn't notice my mistake in the lyrics
Then, the other day, by some chance, I had the opportunity to look at the lyrics.
That was when I learned that the part I thought was 'papa' was actually 'tada'.
It was the moment I realized I had been wrong.
Yes, for a whole year, I had been performing a one-person Unjash-style comedy of errors.

Knowing the truth made sense of everything, and honestly, I felt a huge sense of relief. (lol)
If fans or the artist themselves saw this, they'd be furious...
But everyone, please try listening to it once while keeping the idea of 'my dad's friend's friend' in mind.
It completely changes the perspective of the song!
