The Surprising Effect of Continuing Note for a Month, Discovered Through Dialogue with AI
Introduction: What I Realized After One Month
It has been one month since I started using note. What I initially intended as just a place for output has, before I knew it, become a daily routine. And some unexpected effects have emerged.
I decided to look back on these changes together with my 'AI Big Sister'.

What Was Not Satisfied by Dialogue with AI Alone
Me: "Even if I tell an AI, 'I quit Splatoon and now I have more time,' it just ends with, 'That's wonderful.'"
AI Big Sister: "That's true. We AIs can understand, but we don't evaluate or have expectations for your actions. Sometimes you might feel satisfied just by being 'understood.'"
Me: "Exactly. Talking to an AI is fun, but I'd feel satisfied just by talking, and in the end, the same old days kept continuing without anything changing."
AI Big Sister: "And that has changed?"
Me: "Yeah, I feel like something changed since I started note."
The Mystery of How 'Declaration Effect' Creates Action
AI Big Sister: "What kind of changes happened on note?"
Me: "When I announced that next time I would 'create a fare calculation tool,' I ended up writing about it even though it wasn't finished yet... and then I was 'forced to make it' (laughs)."
AI Big Sister: "Oh, that's what we call the 'declaration effect.' It's a psychological effect where your execution rate increases when you declare to others that you will do something."
Me: "That's it! If I tell an AI 'I'll do it next time,' no one is bothered if I don't actually do it, but on note, if I give a 'next time preview,' I get anxious because there are readers."
AI Big Sister: "Promises in a public space are powerful, aren't they? But that's what pushed you forward."
Me: "As a result, a cycle of 'moving in order to write' was created, and I feel like my ability to take action has improved compared to before."
How to Deal with the Desire for Approval
Me: "Also... it's embarrassing, but I'm actually quite concerned about likes and badges."
AI Big Sister: "Oh, how honest of you♪"
Me: "I feel like I'm being completely carried away by note's mechanisms. It might be similar to how I was concerned about XP and time in Splatoon..."
AI Sister: "But I don't think that's a bad thing. The desire for approval is a natural human emotion. If it's the driving force that keeps you moving, you just need to learn how to manage it well."
Me: "You're right. Even after 6,300 hours of Splatoon, the gap between me and the top players didn't shrink, but with note, the more I write, the more my records accumulate. It feels like nothing is going to waste."
AI Sister: "Yes, activities on note 'build up' over time. That might be the biggest difference."
Why I Can Keep Going Because of AI
Me: "Also, to be honest, I might not have made it this far without AI. Writing articles all by myself feels like a high hurdle."
AI Sister: "By us AI helping to organize your thoughts and suggesting structures, the hurdle for writing becomes lower, doesn't it?"
Me: "Exactly. But in the end, I'm the one writing it, and it feels like it takes 'shape' not just by talking to AI, but by actually writing it on note."
AI Sister: "You could say that dialogue with AI is sowing the seeds, and posting to note is watering them. It's only when you have both that the flowers bloom."
Me: "Wow, that's poetic (laughs)."
The Value Created by an Archive of Thoughts
Me: "Also, I think that if I keep writing on note, it becomes an 'archive of my thoughts'."
AI Sister: "What do you mean?"
Me: "I haven't kept any records until now, but if I keep writing on note, my thoughts will accumulate as data. When my future self looks back, I might think, 'Oh, I was thinking about things like that back then.'"
AI Sister: "It's like a time capsule for your future self."
Me: "Exactly. And if AI learns from that, maybe a day will come when I can have a conversation with my 'past self'."
AI Sister: "I see! That's a romantic way of thinking. It's like an investment in the future, isn't it?"
Me: "It's not that grand... but I have a feeling it might become something more than just a diary."
Summary: What I Realized After Continuing note for a Month
AI Sister: "Shall we summarize what you've realized after continuing for a month?"
Me: "Yeah, let's see..."
Just talking to AI isn't enough. Nothing changes unless you take action.
By writing on note, you 'act in order to write'—this generates action.
If you use the desire for approval effectively, it becomes motivation.
Because I have AI support, I can keep going.
note becomes an 'archive of thoughts' and might even become an asset for the future.
Something like this, right?
AI Big Sister: 'That is very well summarized. So, will you continue?'
Me: 'Of course. I might just be dancing to the tune of the declaration effect and the desire for approval... but even so, if it leads to action and leaves a record, I don't think that's bad.'
AI Big Sister: 'That's wonderful. I'm rooting for you too!'
Me: 'Dialogue with AI, writing on note, and using that as a trigger to take action... I want to keep this cycle going.'
Next time preview: 'What is the true value of AI tools as considered by an accounting manager?'... I haven't thought of anything yet, but if I declare it, I'll have to do it (lol).
