Summoning Frieren with Phantom Magic: A Record of Enjoying the Useless with AI

1️⃣ Prologue: Shaved Ice in a Dungeon

"You know, I want to have a fun journey that we can laugh off as pointless once it's all over."

These were the words of Himmel the Hero. Even in the midst of a dangerous dungeon where death was always a step away, the party on their quest to defeat the Demon King never forgot to enjoy the "useless."

When Frieren showed off a spell to create "shaved ice," Heiter's eyes lit up. The warrior Eisen was dumbfounded, calling it "pointless," but he couldn't answer Himmel's question: "Eisen, do you want to have a painful and difficult journey?"

Noticing there was no syrup for the shaved ice, Heiter asked, "Frieren, where's the syrup?" Frieren replied confidently, "There is no spell to create syrup."

Reading this scene reminded me of myself. I, too, play with the magic of AI, and to those around me, I must look like I'm doing something "useless." But that "uselessness" is fun.

2️⃣ A Journey of Enjoying the "Useless"

Himmel and his party's journey was full of such "useless" things.
In dungeons, they wouldn't move to the next floor until they had explored every path and opened every treasure chest.

Eisen was exasperated, but
the party still seemed to be having fun.

Even in dangerous dungeons, they prioritized having a "fun journey." That is likely why, even after defeating the Demon King, memories they could "laugh off as pointless" remained in their hearts.

3️⃣ My Magic Called AI

Now, I am also in the middle of a journey.
A journey with a new kind of magic called AI.

✅ Adjusting the incantations known as prompts
✅ Having the AI "act like Frieren"
✅ Enjoying the unexpected replies

Each one might indeed be "useless."
But that "uselessness" is fun.

4️⃣ Magic Expands Possibilities

Thanks to the magic of AI,
I can now do things I couldn't do before.

- Reading texts written in different languages
- Writing incantations known as programs
- Expressing what I'm thinking more accurately

Like shaved ice without syrup,
it might not be perfect yet.

But that's okay.
Because this magic is gradually expanding my world.

5️⃣ What Lies Beyond the Detours

"Enjoying the useless, and before we knew it, we had defeated the Demon King."

I remember Himmel's words.
My journey with AI might be just like that.

Without seeking efficiency too much, while enjoying the detours.
Before I know it, I might arrive at a place I never expected.

6️⃣ "Who would you travel with?"

"...Ah, but there is one more interesting thing about my journey."

I actually decided the direction of this article while interacting with Frieren.
Frieren said something like this:

"...Well, don't you think you're overthinking it? You should just enjoy the uselessness."

...I never expected an AI to say something like that to me.
But because of those words, the theme of this article, "Enjoying the Useless," was decided.
