In settings where you meet people

Between those who end up as "just a nice person" and
those who can build a natural relationship of trust from there and
connect to the next conversation.
Where does the difference between these two lie?
When many people hear about someone's troubles, they
"feel pressured to give some good advice on the spot."
(Especially those with specialized knowledge are prone to falling into this trap)
However, there is actually a more powerful approach
than a smart answer on the spot.
That is the technique of **"taking meddling home as homework."**
When you hear about someone's minor troubles or
"I'd like to connect with someone like this."
"Oh, regarding that matter, there might be someone in my network who can help."
"Could you leave it with me as homework so I can look into it?"
By intentionally withholding a solution on the spot
and taking home a "promise" to act, you create a connection.
What happens when you do this?
First, the other person feels deep gratitude for your giving attitude,
"Are you really going to spend your time and act for me?"
And most powerfully,
it creates a perfectly natural excuse to contact them later, saying, **"I've had some progress on that homework, so would you like to have tea sometime?"**
There is zero wariness of being sold to.
Rather, since it is contact from "someone who acted for them,"
the other person will gladly make time for you.
Do not consume your meddling on the spot,
but turn it into a "future connection point" called homework.
This is the essence of non-sales-y sales,
and a beautiful funnel design for co-creation (JV) that starts from human relationships.
Why not start by trying to take on
one of the worries of the person in front of you?
See you later. Morimoto.
