Pharmacist National Examination Study Schedule from a Pharmacist Who Passed the Exam🖋📖
Students often ask me how to go about studying for the national exam and when I started, so I will introduce when we started our national exam studies and how we went about it😉
1. When we started
4th Year
Around December: CBT (written test to advance to 5th year)
Around January–February: OSCE (practical test to advance to 5th year)
Created a summary of past national exam questions starting from spring break
(*We spent a considerable amount of time creating this)
Please see below for details🙂
Past National Exam Question Collection
5th Year
Practical training
Laboratory experiments (graduation thesis)
In between these, I just kept solving past exam questions.
*It's not just about doing past questions; we did them during our 5th year to learn the trends of the questions, how they are asked, and what the important points are.
Since it would be a waste of time to do past questions in the 6th year (I wanted to study with reference books if possible), I did about 3 rounds of about 10 years' worth during my 5th year.
Personally, the number of years of past questions to do is...
at least the past 5 years
if possible, 10 years
You can do more, but if you have time, 15–20 years.
In particular, some classmates only memorized the answers for the regular past question tests (graduation exams) at university because they didn't have time, but that is truly a waste of time.
If you are going to do it, make sure to do it while understanding it thoroughly😊
After training...
Anyway, complete your graduation thesis
get a job offer (don't spend too much time on job hunting).
*Limit your visits to about 3 places. Some classmates went to about 10, but that's spending too much time. If you don't get a job, give up gracefully and look after you pass the national exam. Even then, it's usually in time.
6th Year
April–June
・Graduation thesis experiments
・Lectures by external instructors (Yakuzemi, etc.)
・Study with Aohon (blue books) in spare time
(It depends on the day, but study time was about 4 hours on average, excluding Yakuzemi lectures)
By the way, it took me 1 hour one way to commute by car.
・Hospital visits, company entrance exams
July–September
・Completion of graduation thesis (July)

2. Daily Schedule (Days without classes)
09:00–12:00 Study for exams at university (occasional breaks)
12:00–13:00 Lunch
13:00–17:00 Study at university
17:00–18:00 Dinner (shopping at a nearby convenience store)
18:00–22:00 Study at university
Return home
It's roughly like this. Some classmates did even more.
I didn't do it, but I heard some classmates went to the university during the New Year holidays.
Also, although I have listed it by time, please note that exam scores are not proportional to the length of time spent.
3. Places where I studied
While everyone has their own preferred place to study, I couldn't study at home at all, so I went to the university even if it took an hour each way.
My recommendations are...
1. Self-study room(This is the best place; it's quiet and you can concentrate)
2. Computer room
(You can look things up on the computer immediately when you don't understand something, but I moved to the self-study room if it was noisy around me. Personally recommended)
3. Empty lecture halls(Quiet, and you can study while talking with friends. Sometimes it can be a bit distracting)
4. Home (I couldn't do it because I'd find myself holding a manga before I knew it)
5. Cafes, family restaurants (Sometimes noisy, and it costs money, so maybe not)
6. Library (Cold in winter, and there are few seats so people fight over them)
