The Dreams of the Leaders Driving Fujitsu's Technology and Their Expectations for 2024
Hello. This is Gakky from the PR note editorial department. There are only three days left this year.
"Tax" was chosen as the number one "Kanji of the Year"*1, but what were some memorable events for you in 2023?
For me, it was impressive that the keyword "AI" appeared in domestic and international news every single day without fail, making "AI" a very familiar part of our lives.

For Fujitsu, it was a year where research and development of technologies supporting "Fujitsu Uvance*3" accelerated. This was achieved through the "Fujitsu Kozuchi (code name) - Fujitsu AI Platform," an AI platform that allows for the rapid testing of cutting-edge AI technologies like a magic mallet, enabling the global release of AI innovation components and AI core engines. Additionally, we co-developed a 64-qubit superconducting quantum computer with RIKEN, and developed the "Fujitsu Hybrid Quantum Computing Platform," which allows for the integrated use of one of the world's largest*2 40-qubit quantum computer simulators. Under joint research with RIKEN, we began providing these to companies and research institutions, leading to a significant expansion of co-creation with various customers, universities, and partners to solve social issues.
*2 One of the world's largest: As of September 2023, according to Fujitsu research, this is one of the world's largest permanent dedicated machines using the State Vector method, which is a general-purpose quantum circuit simulation method.
*3 Fujitsu Uvance: A business model that takes on the challenge of customer business growth and solving social issues.

Regarding these key technologies, along with the dreams of the leaders driving them, I would like to introduce the technology strategy presented in the research strategy briefing held in October via video, as well as the Predictions (statements forecasting 2024) regarding AI, quantum computing, and converging technologies that were released internationally this December.
