Creating the future we want to ride in through cross-industry collaboration. Fujitsu exhibits at Japan Mobility Show 2023 as a technology company!
When you hear the phrase "the future we want to ride in," many people probably think of space travel or flying cars.
At the Japan Mobility Show 2023, held from October 26 to November 5, 2023, SUBARU CORPORATION unveiled its "Air Mobility Concept," an electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) powered by electric motors and batteries, also known as a "flying car." Additionally, the startup Iwaya Giken, which has made headlines for commercializing space travel, showcased a two-seater cabin for space tourism, suggesting that the future we thought was far away might be just around the corner.
The Japan Mobility Show 2023 was held for the first time in four years since the Tokyo Motor Show, with the theme of creating Japan's future together with new partners, transcending the boundaries of the automotive industry to include other industries, startups, and visiting customers. The number of visitors reached 1,112,000!
In the past, Fujitsu has exhibited automotive system equipment, but this time, as a technology company, we exhibited in the "Tokyo Future Tour" area, which was themed around the future of Tokyo at the Japan Mobility Show 2023.

Yay! Woo-hoo! Visualizing environmental sounds in the city, "Eki-matope" enlivened the show's production
"Eki-matope" uses AI to express sound information flowing on station platforms, such as announcements and train arrival/departure sounds, on monitors using text, sign language, and onomatopoeia. It aims to provide a comfortable experience for all station users, including those with hearing impairments, and to support safe and secure railway usage.

In the "LIFE & MOBILITY*1" section where "Eki-matope" was exhibited, the future mobility scenes and cityscapes changed by mobility were structured into a show performance. It depicted a rich life where various people live with diverse mobility options. The sound effects of the show were also expressed using "Eki-matope."
In the future, we are considering installing it not only in stations but also in parks, shopping streets, airports, and stadiums, aiming for social implementation in a wide range of usage scenarios.

Godzilla attacks! "Disaster Resilience" plays an active role as a command center at the disaster site
In this exhibition, we assumed a situation where a levee was destroyed by Godzilla's landing, coinciding with flooding caused by heavy rain. "Disaster Resilience" predicted and visualized the damage by taking the place of an AI avatar, and presented disaster countermeasures, such as selecting the optimal evacuation route, to visitors in a quiz format.

In "EMERGENCY & MOBILITY*2," we expressed mobility that works in cooperation with people in the future of Japan, a disaster-prone country. In collaboration with the movie "Godzilla Minus One," various mobility technologies were introduced through a performance where a reporter reported on future rescue activities at a disaster site.

The common point between Fujitsu and Mobility is creating the future in a human-centric way through cross-industry collaboration
For a long time, Fujitsu has been committed to contributing to the development of society and our customers by creating various technologies under the belief of "making people happy through technology."
In a changing world, we rethought the role Fujitsu should play, and in 2020, we established our Purpose: "to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation." In 2021, we announced "Fujitsu Uvance," a global solution to realize that purpose.
"Fujitsu Uvance" is a guideline that aims to "realize a sustainable world" and challenges to solve social issues through cross-industry offerings based on social needs.
Against this background, Fujitsu resonated with the concept of the Japan Mobility Show 2023 and decided to exhibit.
This time, we exhibited "Eki-matope" and "Disaster Resilience" with the theme of a sustainable and better life, but specific examples of mobility initiatives are introduced at the Japan Future Session. Please take a look here👇!
Editor's Note
Being in a space filled with dreams of "I wish the future society were like this" made me feel like a child again. I was able to expand my expectations not only for mobility used for transportation such as cars, trains, and airplanes, but also for the role of mobility that expands beyond just movement. I wanted to think again about what is necessary for the future society and what we can do now for that purpose.
