There is not much free time
As I have introduced before, there was an interesting timeline chart in a certain book.It represents how time is spent using the number of squares, with age on the horizontal axis and a single day on the vertical axis.By applying my own life to this chart, I can create a rough "life calendar." Assuming my life (lifespan) is 80 years, I created it as "24 squares per day × 80 years of life = 1,920 squares." And this is what I created.

Even for the same type of time frame, the number of squares differs depending on age. Even for mandatory time (schooling), there is more in junior high than in elementary school, and when it came to being an exam student, even for someone like me who dislikes studying, it increased somewhat, so I filled in the squares as realistically as possible around those parts.
Furthermore, once I became a working adult, my working hours increased significantly due to changes in my position. Strictly speaking, the mental and physical burden skyrocketed even more than the working hours... So, during the periods when I was truly busy (40s to early 50s), this might even be a bit lenient? Hmm, I end up thinking, was I really a corporate slave after all? (Sigh)
With that in mind, if you look at this chart, you can understand the rough way time is spent in life. And what I felt once again is thatfree time (leisure time in life) is not abundant, and there is not much sand left in the hourglass of lifethat is the case.
Of course, since I continued working until retirement, I think that is only natural unless I continue to live until 100 while maintaining a healthy life expectancy, and I do not regret that at all. Even so,right now, I am just thinking about enjoying the leisure time of my life from here on out. I am looking forward to it so much.
As a supplement, while I call it mandatory time, for those who love their work, I think it can be interpreted as free time. Also, even after retirement, if you continue to do other work and find it enjoyable, I think that can be considered free time.
Unfortunately, in my case, I wasn't that obsessed with work (I didn't cut corners at work while I was employed, though), so now I am dedicating my free time to the things I like that I couldn't do because I didn't have time when I was a company employee. Since that time is fulfilling, I am truly grateful.
By the way, I make it a daily routine to walk 4 km every day to maintain my health (it's subtle whether this is leisure or mandatory time). However, considering the extreme heat of the coming season, I could easily imagine myself making excuses like "it would be terrible if I got heatstroke" and stopping my walks.
So, I took the plunge and joined ChocoZAP, and started going to the nearest branch yesterday. Both yesterday and today I went in at 1:30 PM, which means most people who work are in full work mode, so the people I saw at the store were almost all of the same generation as me. From now on, I won't lose to those of my generation, and with the mindset that "persistence pays off," I intend to "get my money's worth." (Bitter laugh)
The last part was a digression, but...
Why don't you all try creating your own life calendars as well?
