[Self-Introduction] I am Yoshito Fujiwara, an illustrator

Hello. I am Yoshito Fujiwara, an illustrator based in Kobe. I left a different industry in 2020 to begin my career as an illustrator. While I am active on my website and social media, I started this note because I felt I could share my deeper thoughts here.
I have had this account since 2018, but it mostly contained articles related to my previous job, so I am writing a proper self-introduction now.

Self-Introduction

Born in Kobe in 1989. Studied oil painting at Osaka University of Arts but dropped out.
During a period of lethargy, I started drawing portraits for 10 yen each at a local park, which gave me a strong sense of inspiration, realizing that "my art can be a job." I spent five years working as a portrait artist, primarily at theme parks like Universal Studios Japan and shopping malls.
I have created portraits for over 8,000 customers in total.

After that, when my first child was born, I stepped away from drawing and became a company employee, working as a restaurant manager and in sales. However, after buying an iPad in the summer of 2019, I started drawing again. While working as a company employee, I began posting the illustrations I created on social media.

Despite experiencing deep frustration, I felt this was the only path for me, so I started my independent career as an illustrator in January 2020. Within two years of going independent, I have worked on illustrations for over 30 companies, including corporate advertisements, magazines, web media, books, and character designs.

I aim to create illustrations that make "tomorrow a little bit better."
