Life Wisdom: 'I'll do it eventually' means never
People often say:
'I'll do it eventually.'
'I'll start when things settle down.'
'I'll give it a try when I have more time.'
These are all natural things to say.
However, when you look back on life,
that 'eventually' surprisingly never comes.
You think you'll start when work settles down,
but then another job comes along.
You think you'll start when child-rearing is over,
but then caring for your parents begins.
You think you'll start when you've saved enough money,
but then other expenses arise.
Life is a strange thing,
and the perfect timing rarely arrives.
Therefore, many dreams,
fade away not because of a lack of ability, but because of procrastination.
I want to write a book.
I want to get a certification.
I want to go on a trip.
There is someone I want to see.
There are things I want to do.
Yet, I do not take action.
Then a year passes by.
Three years pass by.
Before I know it, ten years have passed.
That is not uncommon.
Of course, caution is important.
Preparation is also necessary.
However, if you only focus on preparation,
life will come to an end.
When you look at people who actually take action,
they do not start in a perfect state.
They start while still feeling anxious.
They start without confidence.
They take a step forward even if they are underprepared.
That is why they move forward.
The difference in life,
might just be the difference in action rather than talent.
Also,
The older you get, the more you understand the value of time.
Money can be recovered.
Failures can be corrected.
But time that has passed can never be returned.
So, if there is something you truly want to do,
try doing it "a little bit now" instead of "someday".
Buy one book.
Sign up for something.
Make contact.
A small step is enough.
Life changes through the accumulation of such steps.
"I'll do it eventually"
is a convenient phrase.
However, at times,
it is also a phrase that pushes your dreams further away.
Life is shorter than you think.
That is precisely why,
I believe it is better not to put off the things that are truly important.
