What does it mean to "do your best"?
Hello.
This is Hayashi.
I went to sleep without setting an alarm yesterday.
It is refreshing to wake up naturally,
without being disturbed by anything.
Since I had decided to take it easy this morning,
I finished everything I needed to do yesterday.
I looked back on the past,
and for the first three years after choosing the path of management, I worked hard for reasons like "I want to sleep without an alarm" or "I want to sleep all day."
And,
even when I actually sleep without an alarm, I wake up at my usual time, and if I sleep all day, my body ends up aching.
"Things you only understand by trying"I think those exist.
One of the things I realized from that is
what it means to "do your best."
I learned what that really means.
That moment was
when my perspective shifted from an employee to a manager.
Anything is fine, so
please try hiring someone and using your own money.
Not company money, but your own pocket money.
Like hiring someone to clean your room,
or renting a taxi for the day.
Then,
there are times when you think,
"I don't want to spend this much money on the content of this work."
But the person who actually did the work
will ask for payment as if it's only natural, saying, "I did my best today too."
I pay the money properly because they did what was required.
However, it made me realize just how much I,
"just being there"
"just finishing the work I was told to do"
was all I was doing back then.
This is what I felt after hearing these words from GACKT.
Start a business, become the one hiring people, and try paying with your own money. You'll understand what "doing your best" means in an instant. You'll see how little people are actually moving. Only then will you truly understand how much you should have felt a sense of crisis about your own way of "doing your best" when you were "just being there."
