What is the difference between Claude and Claude Code? Answering 'Which one should I actually use?' including Cowork
When you start using Claude, you will soon come across the names "Claude Code" and "Cowork".
"So, which one should I actually use?"
Actually, whether or not you know the difference will completely change the results you can get from AI. I tested all three at work on the same day. In short—they are not competitors, but rather a division of labor.
Conclusion: In 3 lines
Claude (Chat) = A sounding board. Thinking
Claude Code = A developer's right-hand man. Building
Claude Cowork = A work delegate. Delegating
If you are a non-engineer, use Claude for thinking tasks and Cowork for execution. These two alone will significantly change your work efficiency.

What each one really is
Claude (Chat): A conversational AI. Asking questions, writing text, and organizing ideas. Its job is to "talk."
Claude Code: An AI agent for developers. It writes and executes code in the terminal (the black screen). It is powerful, but has a high barrier to entry for non-engineers. Its job is to "build."
Claude Cowork: A version of Claude Code's execution mechanism that can be used without a terminal. You just ask in natural language, and it handles file organization and document creation. Its job is to "delegate."
In other words, Cowork is what opened up Code's execution power to non-engineers. These three are not separate products, but rather three faces of the same Claude: "talking, building, and delegating".
Comparison table: Differences at a glance

If you are unsure, just remembering this table is enough. After that, there is no problem with finding the right way to use them for yourself while working on actual tasks.

I used all three on the same day, and it resulted in one article.
This distinction is not just theoretical. At Forvio, we don't write about what 'might be possible.' We only write about the results of actual use.
This is how I created the previous verification article.
Claude consulted on the article structure and strategy (Thinking)
Claude Code asked to 'create 15 verification files,' and generated PDFs and text in bulk (Creating)
Cowork asked to 'organize this folder,' and entrusted with everything from confirming the classification plan to execution (Delegating)

As a result, Cowork's classification was 15 out of 15 correct. The entire process is in the previous article.
What I learned here is what I want to convey most in this article.

Mastering AI is not about perfecting one single AI. It is about handing off work to the optimal AI for each task.
For those who know this approach versus those who don't, the results they can extract from the same pricing plan are completely different.
Which one should I use after all? [Summary]

Thinking → Claude (Chat)
Creating (Development) → Claude Code
Delegating (PC tasks) → Cowork
Optimal solution for non-engineers → Dual-wielding Chat and Cowork
We are no longer in an era where you choose 'which AI is the most amazing.'
The more you can delegate roles to the optimal AI for each job, the more your productivity will change significantly.
Start by thinking with Claude, and if necessary, delegate to Cowork. Just these two alone should change your work significantly.
