I don't need to be an 'amazing person'—the reason I want to keep writing on note | What my encounters have taught me
Hello, I'm Akimam.
Until a little while ago, I was studying to become a web writer.
Interested in it as a job I could do from home, I learned through videos and books, searched for projects, and took a step forward with the feeling of wanting to make writing my profession. It was a challenge I embarked upon.
However, the further I went, the more a sense of discomfort began to grow within me.
Of course, I like writing itself.
I don't dislike the time I spend writing, either.
It's just that writing as a job and writing that comes from my own feelings felt a bit different to me.
I can't explain it well, but
"Can I really keep going in this direction?"
That wavering feeling was always in my heart.
And so, I decided to stop for a moment.
The true place I found when I stopped
At that time, what I naturally started turning to was note.
Writing articles, reading others' articles, and interacting through comments.
Before I knew it, I was always opening note during breaks in housework or in my spare moments.
Empathizing with someone's words, enjoying the exchange, and receiving reactions to my own articles.
That time was so enjoyable that I suddenly realized something.
"Maybe this is the way I want to be writing."
That's how I started to feel.
One of the triggers for that was an encounter with a certain creator.
The words of Utsuki Yuki that touched my heart
By the way, I use a cute character for my icon, but inside, I'm just a woman in her 40s (lol).
Having passed the halfway point of life, I've started to think more often, "Is it okay to stay like this?"
In the midst of that, when I was reading everyone's articles on note as usual, the one who caught my eye was Utsuki Yuki-san.
When you read Yuki-san's articles, there is a very natural warmth in the writing.
Even though they aren't flashy words, they strangely remain in your heart.
I think that is surely because you, Yuki, always have us readers in mind beyond your words, and it feels as if you are gently speaking to us right by our side.
And, rather than just conveying know-how,
“Why do you write?”
“With what feelings are you sharing this?”
Those parts also come through quietly from your writing.
You are also monetizing your work through your posts on note, but that feels like more than just a “result”—it feels likesomething that is an extension of your daily efforts—and that is a part that resonates with my own feelings.
Actually, you recently started a membership, and I took the plunge and joined!
Of course, I want to learn about managing and monetizing note, but the biggest reason was that I wanted to experience “your thoughts and your way of thinking,” Yuki.
You are someone with a proven track record, having even been featured in
“FIRE Zukan”.
But more than your achievements, what resonated with my heart was the warmth that dwells in your words.
There is one phrase in this article that particularly stayed with me.
The presence of all of you who say you are ‘glad you read’ about my experiences has become my new place to belong
When I read those words, I felt,
“Ah, you are someone who walks on the same level as us.”
That is how I felt.
Even though you are someone with amazing achievements, strangely, I don't feel you are far away.
Rather, there was a sense of security, as if you were walking right beside me.
Not just “someone to admire from afar,” but someone who walks together in the same place.
Thinking that I can learn by your side, Yuki, made me feel very happy somehow.
To someone who can walk beside me, rather than an “amazing person”
I don't want to become an “amazing person.”
Rather than aiming to be someone who influences many people,
there is something I want to cherish more right now.
That is,connecting on the same level with people who are walking while feeling lost or troubled just like me.
Trying something new,
feeling anxious,
and gathering a little courage to take a step forward.
I will put even those fluctuations of emotion into words.
And if someone who reads that,
“I feel the same way”
thinks that, I would be so happy just with that.
I still don't know how far I can go with note.
I have just as much anxiety about this unknown world as I do the desire to try it.
I might be feeling weak again by tomorrow, after all (laughs).
But right now, writing on note is a lot of fun.
Having my heart moved by reading someone else's article,
or having interactions born through comments,
those moments have become precious to me.
That is why, from here on out,
I want to continue with note, being honest with my own feelings.
Instead of aiming to be an amazing person,
I want to connect through words with someone who is walking the same path.
I hope I can continue to write that kind of note from now on.
