[Hope from Stage IV Endometrial Cancer] What is Lynch Syndrome/Hereditary Tumor? [Battle with Cancer Record]
Nice to meet you, Mie is my name! Please feel free to call me
Mie or Mie! ♥️ Thank you for opening this page! (*´∀`)
[Stage IV Endometrial Cancer], [Lynch Syndrome], and [Immunotherapy (Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors)]
In April 2025, I was diagnosed with [Stage IV Endometrial Cancer], and it was found to be
[Lynch Syndrome], which is a hereditary condition.

First, I underwent chemotherapy with a TC regimen (paclitaxel and carboplatin) + immune checkpoint inhibitor (Imfinzi | generic name: durvalumab) triple-drug combination for 6 cycles. (AstraZeneca K.K. Press Release) (
This is a new treatment approved for endometrial cancer in November 2024)
After that, because all the metastasized cancer had disappeared, I underwent surgery in November 2025 to remove the primary uterus, as well as the adnexa, ovaries, and fallopian tubes.
I started writing this note because I wanted to record in my own words what happened until I was diagnosed with cancer, what happened after, and what lies ahead.
~ With hope for the future ~
◈ Introduction (Timeline, etc.)
In April 2025, at the age of 45, I was diagnosed with Stage IV endometrial cancer, and
since my mother and younger sister also suffered from the same disease, there is a high possibility of
hereditary tumor, specifically Lynch syndrome. I began
TC therapy (paclitaxel + carboplatin) +
immune checkpoint inhibitor (Imfinzi | generic name: durvalumab) triple combination therapy, and it was successfully completed the other day (September '25) 😭(6 sessions in total)
August 1, '25 update: My sister had genetic testing and was confirmed to have Lynch syndrome. Therefore,
my mother and I are also almost certainly confirmed as well.
October '25 update: As a result of PET/CT and MRI scans, the metastatic cancer has disappeared 😭, and I have decided to undergo
surgery to remove the primary tumor in the uterus (it's still there but has shrunk significantly!) and the adnexa (ovaries and fallopian tubes)!!
November '25 update: Surgery was completed successfully, and I have been discharged from the hospital (*´∀`)
Let's take it one step at a time! 👍️
For now, I've taken a step forward!!
Thank you so much for your support! (*・ω・)*_ _)
While looking back a bit on the past, I plan to write about my battle with illness, daily life, and whatever else comes to mind, basically enjoying it and going at my own pace. And, by letting as many people as possible know about '
Lynch syndrome', I hope to provide an opportunity for those who might be concerned to go for testing as soon as possible. (*One theory suggests that
1 in 200 Japanese people may have it. It's actually quite a familiar issue~💦)

◈ Magazines, etc. (Feel free to follow!)
◽ Looking Back Series ①~⑰ Final Episode
From being diagnosed with Stage IV endometrial cancer to what happened after, and up to the second chemotherapy treatment. I have summarized it here.
It's not a magazine, but I think the flow is easy to read, so I would be happy if those who are interested could read it.
◽ Article written after the 5th chemotherapy session
This is my first paid note! (It's a part related to privacy, etc.)
It's just a bonus, but it includes a slightly funny photo of my bald head (*eyes and above only) w(σ*´∀`)💓 Heart-pounding...
(October '25 update: All 6 chemotherapy sessions are finished, and it's starting to grow back little by little! In a way, it has become a 'commemoration' for me! 😉)
(December '25 update: It has grown in quite a bit, and I have an Ichiro-style haircut now lol. Commemorating the birth of 'Mie-ro' lol)
◽ Magazine about battling illness
This summarizes my battle with illness. (I'll probably go off on tangents eventually... so if you want to read about the battle with illness, please look here)
◽ Other magazines, miscellaneous notes, etc.
I tend to go off on tangents immediately lol. Well, it can't just be heavy topics all the time, right? ( ;´・ω・`)
How about a breather once in a while?

◈ Simply put, about hereditary tumors...
'Caused by an inherited gene mutation' means 'a constitution that is prone to cancer from birth'.
The patient's medical history or family medical history may have the following characteristics.
There are people who have been diagnosed with cancer at a young age. There are people who have been diagnosed with cancer.
There are people in the family who have been diagnosed with cancer multiple times.
There is a high incidence of specific cancers in the family.
If any of these sound familiar, please consider the possibility of a 'hereditary tumor'. (Even if it is hereditary, some people never develop cancer in their lifetime.)
One such hereditary tumor is 'Lynch syndrome'. (Also known as Hereditary Non-Polyposis Colorectal Cancer (HNPCC).)
◈ About Lynch syndrome
I was diagnosed with stage IV endometrial cancer at the age of 45. My younger sister was diagnosed with the same endometrial cancer at almost the same time (that's when I thought something was wrong and looked it up). My mother was also diagnosed with colorectal cancer in her early 50s and endometrial cancer 5 years ago, but both of them are currently in
remission and are living happily while undergoing follow-up observations. As a result of detailed examinations at a university hospital, I was told that I was
'dMMR' (DNA mismatch repair deficiency), so it was highly likely that I had one of the hereditary tumors, [Lynch syndrome]. *I have not had a definitive diagnosis through genetic testing, but my sister had the test and was confirmed to have Lynch syndrome
. (Therefore, it is almost certain for both my mother and me
.)
Lynch syndrome (Hereditary Non-Polyposis Colorectal Cancer: HNPCC), which is a type of hereditary colorectal cancer, is a disease that increases the risk of developing colorectal cancer, endometrial, ovarian, gastric, small intestine, hepatobiliary, renal pelvis, and ureteral cancers. It is estimated that about 2-5% of all colorectal cancers are Lynch syndrome (HNPCC) 1,2,3), and it is considered one of the most frequent hereditary tumors.
Mismatch repair genes have mutations (pathogenic variants) that prevent them from working properly from birth, making it easier to develop various malignant tumors (cancers), including colorectal cancer and endometrial cancer, than in the general population.
◈ About the inheritance of Lynch syndrome
Lynch syndrome is a hereditary tumor, but is it passed on to children and grandchildren?
If either parent has Lynch syndrome, there is a 50% chance that it will be passed on to their children. (Autosomal dominant inheritance pattern) *It does not skip generations. If a parent has Lynch syndrome and the child does not, the child's children (grandchildren) will not have Lynch syndrome.

◈ My Current Situation (Updated 11/23/25)
I currently live in Osaka, and fortunately, there is a university hospital nearby where I have finished my combination treatment of chemotherapy: Paclitaxel + Carboplatin (TC Therapy) + Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor (Imfinzi | Generic name: Durvalumab)!Combination treatment has ended!
After 6 cycles, I am scheduled to receive Imfinzi once a month as maintenance therapy. I have repeatedly been admitted to and discharged from the hospital and have finally finished the last '
6th' chemotherapy session!! (Added 9/20/2025)
◽And... the curtain rises on Chapter 2! ( ゚∀゚)
As a result of the tests after finishing chemotherapy, all metastatic cancer has disappeared, and it has been decided that I can have surgery to remove the primary tumor in the uterus (which still has cancer remaining but has shrunk) and the adnexa!! For now, I plan to have all visible cancer removed. (They say they will also carefully perform surgery on the lymph node area while visually checking and testing.) After that, I am scheduled to receive Imfinzi via IV once a month as
maintenance therapy.
I successfully finished surgery in November 2025! 👍️ I have now been discharged and am recuperating (。・ω・)ゞ
Things are moving so fast that honestly, my head can't keep up (lol). And I feel a bit relieved 😌, like I've let my guard down 💦. I'll write more about it in detail later! ( ´∀`)

But there was really a lot that happened before I got to this point ( ノД`)…
[Following the Timeline]From being diagnosed with Stage IV endometrial cancer to what happened after, and up to the second chemotherapy treatment Click here for the 'Looking Back Series' that summarizes this
At that time, I was still in the midst of confusion, and I started writing on note to organize my feelings and situation. So, looking at it now, it's a bit scattered lol. I think there might be some parts that are hard to read, but I would be happy if you could read it with a warm heart 🙏
While looking back on everything up to this point, I want to continue recording the present and the future! ⚠️
But there are many tangents lol
Thank you for reading this far (*・ω・)*_ _)
The treatment still has a long way to go, but I will do my best 💪😤
