My Musical Journey: Extra Edition - Attending a Concert of the Band I'm on Leave From - Part 2

Aloha!

Continuing from yesterday (^^ゞ

Since I haven't been able to contribute anything to the band for this concert, I made a small personal effort by creating invitations and sending them to my acquaintances.
Thanks to that, it seems the number of attendees increased a bit? (^^ゞ

Thanks to everyone (or should I be the one saying that? (^^;)), many guests had gathered even before the doors opened.
The line extended outside the hall, so they opened the doors early (・O・).
I'm truly grateful for that (;。;).
In the end, they ran out of the 880 programs they had prepared. Considering the hall's capacity, I'd say it was just under 70% full.
The second-floor seats where I was sitting were also fairly filled.

The program was in two parts.
It is customary for band members to conduct at our concerts, but this time we asked two people to conduct.
Both of them were guest conductors at our 20th concert last year.

One was a former music teacher who used to be the advisor for the high school the members graduated from (it's an alumni band).
The other was a trombone player who is currently serving as our coach.

It was a very interesting experience for me as a listener to see how the band's tone changed brilliantly depending on the conductor's unique personality.

Because of that, the program was set up so that each part would reach a climax at the end, so it might have been a bit tough for the performers (^^♪

The repertoire was quite impressive, starting with P. Sparke and ending with J. Barnes, L. Bernstein, J. Williams, Toshio Mashima, S. Reineke, and P. Sparke.

And for the encore, we had the essential Christmas music for this time of year, Frozen, and then...

The return of "Matsuken Samba II"!!!

During Matsuken Samba II, gold-clad backup dancers and even samba dancers (who apparently dance at the Asakusa Carnival (・O・)) appeared, and the venue was in a frenzy. However... (^^ゞ

Actually, when it was popular before, I performed it as an encore when I was on stage myself.
Looking at the surveys from that time, there were many comments saying the encore was the best part, and the image of the songs played until then was completely overwritten by Matsuken Samba. Oh dear, orz

I wonder what the audience's memories will be like this time... (^^;).
It's a song with such a strong impact, after all.
It gets everyone excited, but you could almost call it a potent drug (^^;).

This time, I listened to the performance of the band I belong to as a member of the audience.
It was over 20 years ago, but I had heard the 1st and 2nd concerts.

That was the last time.
I don't feel this way when watching strangers perform on stage, but when I see faces I know performing, I get an irresistible urge to play too.Maybe it's because it evokes memories of when I was in that place myself.

That said, although my physical condition is gradually returning, to be honest, I still don't know if I can perform on stage.
When I retire, I want to make sure I declare it properly before ending, but...

I haven't touched my instrument much this year, so I'm thinking of doing some rehabilitation next year.
Because music isn't just for listening; playing it yourself doubles the joy.

Man, music is truly a wonderful thing.Well then, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye (^_^)/If you know that line, you must be in your 60s or older (^_^)/(The original says "movies," not "music" (^^ゞ))Mahalo!
