I was bewildered by her declaration the moment I got home.

"What are you talking about?"
"That, right there!"

She said, pointing at my tie, which I had just started to undo.

"Where were you?"
"A job fair."
"Why are you going to something like that now?"
"If we're going to get married, I should have a steady job, right?"
"That's not what I'm asking for!"

She said that and ran out of the house.

Even though this is her house.

Where did you go! You'll catch a cold! I said, chasing after her in my worn-out sneakers instead of my still-clean leather shoes.

What the heck is a Tokimeki Toe Shoe anyway?
Is that the name of some struggling comedian? I thought to myself as I stopped to watch the people performing street music in front of the station.


Until just recently, I was on that side too. And she was the one who supported me the most.



"I'll definitely make it big someday."
"Well, until then, you're juggling being a street musician and a mooch, aren't you?"

She would say with a laugh. I suddenly looked down, and the laces on my sneakers had already come undone.

Apparently, today is Bass Day. Even though I know toe shoes are those things you wear for ballet, I was reminded of this song.

I couldn't find a version sung by the artist, so I apologize for just the lyrics... I couldn't remember the song title either, so I searched for "Mooch Two Thousand Yen" 🙇 (Two thousand yen is just too perfect...) I'm sure the audio file is still on my Walkman, but it's been a year and a half since I lost the charger... I love the lyrics, but I also remember the length of the song being quite stylish 🤔

I think this is it. The audio for this is probably on my Walkman too... That's why (?) this is the first time I've seen the MV (I probably didn't know about YouTube when it was released, and TSUTAYA hadn't landed here yet...), and I was surprised by how the video looked somewhat similar yet different 👀! I usually have songs I like on repeat, but since I often only remember parts of the lyrics, I have a hard time finding them 😇
