Okinawa ① Okinawa over a decade ago. The vermilion of Shuri Castle and the 30,000 yen that made my family laugh until we cried were a miracle.
After Cebu, I'd like to turn back the clock a little and look back at a trip to Okinawa about 13 years ago.
The photo I've posted this time is one that I've edited and brought back to life.
It's a precious memory of my family and relatives all lined up together in front of the now-lost Shuri Castle (near the Shureimon Gate).
Actually, this trip was sparked by a surprising advertisement I saw in the newspaper at the time for "30,000 yen per person."
It was an incredibly cheap tour, but the options were also amazing.
For just an extra 500 yen each,
we enjoyed magical snorkeling in the "Blue Cave",
and tasted exquisite Okinawa soba in the atmospheric space of "Ufuya."
It even included a teppanyaki lunch where we watched the chef's brilliant skills right in front of us.
Thinking back on it now, it was unbelievably luxurious, and above all, being "all together" was the most fun part.
The Shuri Castle in the photo is still there, as vividly vermilion as ever.

Even if things that have a physical form change, the sea breeze we all felt and the sound of our laughter at that time remain in my heart, never fading.
