The everyday bag problem for men in their late 40s might finally be solved
Choosing a bag is surprisingly difficult.
If it's too big, it's cumbersome.
If it's too small, it won't hold your things.
Especially for everyday bags, I feel like if you keep having minor inconveniences, you eventually stop using them altogether.
What I bought this time is the hALON "Bonding Mini Tote Bag".
hALON is a brand also featured on the official United Arrows website, characterized by a balance of functionality and urban design.
Simple but with a thoughtful touch.
Many of their items have that vibe, and this mini tote was exactly that.
Here is the bag I purchased.

It was just right for the amount of stuff I carry
What I usually keep in my bag is:
Long wallet
Card holder
Key case
Two smartphones
Eco-bag
Basically, that's about it.
In the summer, I sometimes add a 500ml plastic bottle.
This amount of luggage is surprisingly tricky.
It won't fit in a smaller bag.
But a standard tote bag is a bit too big.
This hALON mini tote was just the right size in between.
It holds everything I need securely.
Yet, it doesn't look that big.
This balance is really good.
It's also important that I don't look like someone carrying a lot of luggage.
Lately, I've especially stopped wanting to carry around large bags.
Of course, storage capacity is important.
However, if a bag has an odd presence, it can sometimes make the entire outfit look heavy.
Especially since I often wear relatively light clothing like
knit T-shirts
linen shirts
polo shirts
easy pants
I wanted a bag that wouldn't interfere with that sense of lightness.
I think this bag fits that vibe quite well.
The reason I chose olive
I struggled quite a bit between black and olive.
But in the end, I chose olive.
Seeing it in person, it's a really nice color.
It's not as earthy as khaki, and not as heavy as black.
It's a very urban olive.
Furthermore, the color scheme with the black handles and edges really works, which is another point I liked—it doesn't just end up being a simple casual bag.
As for the reason I chose olive,
it goes well with casual clothes
Doesn't look too heavy even in summer
Blends well with black clothing
Easy to pair with off-white or white
Something like this.
Especially in summer, while black bags are convenient, they can sometimes look a bit heavy.
In that regard, this olive color makes it easy to achieve a lighter look.
Plus, it still looks properly mature.

No dividers. But surprisingly easy to use
This bag doesn't have any small internal dividers.
However, the included pouch is actually quite convenient instead.
When you actually use it,
Smartphone and card holder in the pouch
Wallet on one side
Key case and eco-bag on the other side
You can organize things naturally like this.
Since the pouch acts like a 'simple divider,' it's easier to use than it looks.
Mini tote bags often end up with items getting scattered inside, but I didn't find that to be much of an issue with this bag.
It supports not just hand-carrying, but also shoulder-carrying
What was even more convenient was that it supports a shoulder strap.
The bag comes with an included shoulder strap that can also be detached.
While I usually use it as a handbag,
when I have more to carry
when I'm carrying it for a long time
when I want to keep both hands free
I can just use the shoulder strap.
This sense of distance, where it's available only when needed, is just right.
I didn't think it was that important at first, but it seems quite useful now that I actually have it.
“Actually using it” is more important than “looking useful”
When it comes to bags, there are countless good-looking ones out there.
But the ones I actually use often are:
the ones that are the perfect size
the ones that aren't too heavy
the ones that are easy to match with clothes
the ones that fit my belongings without a struggle
In the end, it's bags like these.
This hALON mini tote is exactly that type.
I think this will really resonate with anyone looking for the “perfect bag”.
