Continued: How to Enjoy Corona no Yu for the Second Time. ── Another Day Spent in the Bedrock Bath
My busy and somewhat hectic days have
finally settled down.
“What should I do next?”
When I regained the mental space to think like that,
I suddenly remembered
the existence of the
“Sendai Port Area New Life Campaign.”
A simple system where you collect stamps
to receive benefits.
But that “simplicity” was just right.
I don't have the energy for a long trip,
but I want to find some small joy──
it was perfect for how I feel right now.
Looking at the participating facilities,
I saw the name
“Sendai Onsen Sendai Corona no Yu”among them.
When I visited last time,
I focused on the flow inside the facility and the sauna,
and went home satisfied.
However, there was one thing
that I “hadn't tried yet” remaining.
That is,bedrock bathing.

(If you want to know the reception flow and details about the sauna,
I think it will be easier to visualize if you read this first)
“Sendai Onsen Sendai Corona no Yu” is selected as one of the
“76 Selected Saunas in Japan”
chosen by Misato Shimizu in theTRANSIT Special Edition“Misato Shimizu's Adventure Around the World's Saunas
”.
The category isSuper Sento.
“I want to enter a properly hot sauna”
“I want to spend the whole day relaxing”
I think it is a facility suitable for such people.
A sense of security “because it's the second time”
I scan my membership card at the reception machine,
and select bathing + bedrock bath.
I proceed to the staffed reception with the receipt,
and choose thecolorandsizeof the loungewear.
This sequence of events
was surprisingly smooth the second time around.
Operations that I was a bit confused by last time,
I could proceed through without hesitation this time.
Just having this “familiarity”
makes a huge difference in my peace of mind right after entering the facility.
“I already know the ropes.”
I felt that just knowing that
allowed me to start my day with peace of mind.
Right after entering, one small pleasure
To the left after passing through the gate,
there is a QR code for the campaign.
Scan it with your smartphone,
and collect a stamp.

When you tap the stamp and proceed through the screen,
a coupon for a free towel was displayed.
Present it at the reception,
and you will be handed a branded towel.

These kinds of “small rewards”
are more delightful than you might think.
“Today is going to be a pretty good day.”
With that feeling, I headed to the bedrock bath area.
Bedrock Bath Area 'ForRest' ── A Place Where the Flow of Time Changes
The bedrock bath area is at the back of the building,
on the hotel side.

The moment I touched my shoe tag and passed through the gate,
I felt the flow of the air change suddenly.
Different from the bustle of the large public bath,
a slightly calmer, more relaxed time.
Here, there are
・3 types of bedrock baths
・cool room
・relaxation lounge
,
and the drink bar and manga selection are also extensive.
Rather than a “place to get refreshed,” it is a “
place to spend time.”
This phrase felt the most fitting.

In reality, it is a little darker.
Zero-pia (Healing) ── Time to lie down quietly
The first place I entered was Zero-pia.
It is a space based on black,
and it has the lowest temperature among the bedrock baths,
making it gentle on the body.

When I tried lying down,
I felt a sensation of warmth gradually spreading from my back.
It was not the intense heat of a sauna,
but a gentleness where you
"realize you are warmed up before you know it."
However, there were a few points that concerned me.
The scent was a bit strong, and
the sound of the television outside could be heard faintly.
It is not complete silence.
But including that,
some people might feel a "sense of security in being connected to daily life."
Melodia (Aroma) ── The place you want to stay the longest
The next place I entered, Melodia,
had a slightly different atmosphere.
The aroma of the fragrance spread softly,
and the lighting was also pleasantly bright.

The temperature is a bit high, but
it was not uncomfortable,
and it was a space where it was easy to breathe.
Here, naturally,
my breathing slowed down.
Without even thinking about anything,
it was just time spent blankly.
"Even though I am doing nothing, I feel refreshed"
The place that felt closest to that sensation
was this Melodia.
Fatia (Flame) ── Another sauna experience
The last room I entered, Fathia,
has a completely different atmosphere.
There is a stove in the center,
and it is a space where you can really feel the intensity of the heat.

There are also loyly events,
and when the heat wave time arrives,
the perceived temperature rises even further.
This was,
more like a sauna than a bedrock bath.
For days when you want to sweat properly, this is the place.
Conversely,
for days when you want to spend time slowly, go to the other rooms.
Being able to choose based on your mood that day
is, I think, the charm of this facility.
Returning gently in the cool room
The cool room is next to Fathia.
At a temperature that isn't too cold,
it slowly calms the heat in your body.

What I felt here was
a time where you don't have to rush.
Rather than
getting refreshed all at once with an outdoor bath like in a sauna,
you return little by little, gently.
This flow
might be the true appeal of the bedrock bath.
The atmosphere that changes with the morning hours
This time, I entered the facility just after 6:00 AM on a Saturday.
For the first 45 minutes or so,
it was quiet, almost as if I had the place to myself.
People started to increase after 7:00 AM,
and it calmed down again around 8:00 AM.
I get the impression that this overlaps with the time when guests from the adjacent hotel
come for their morning bath.
"Early morning if you want to spend time quietly"
This way of choosing seems to be a sure thing.
Finally, returning to the sauna as expected
After enjoying the bedrock bath, I returned to the large public bath.
Tower Sauna and steam sauna.
What I felt again here is the "sauna strength" of this facility.
The sauna has a solid heat, and even those who are used to saunas regularly are unlikely to feel it is lacking.
On weekends,
heat wave events are also held.
The salt placed in front of the steam sauna was very impressive this time.
With a moist texture, when placed on the skin, it blends in gently.
An experience different from the previous "Dead Sea salt (which was limited to holidays)."
I felt that even in the same place, it changes so much depending on the timing of your visit.
Another pleasure that was beyond the stamp
After leaving Corona no Yu, I collected stamps at the facilities on the premises, and finally went to
Mitsui Outlet Park Sendai Port.
At the 1st-floor general information desk, I got a stamp, received a 500-yen shopping voucher, and went straight to lunch.

※Ask the staff to bring up the QR code.
I chose a seafood bowl.

For some reason, a meal after a sauna and bedrock bath feels a little special.
Perhaps it is because my body is already refreshed that
I can savor both the flavors and the time
more slowly.
Summary
Days when I want to sweat thoroughly and
days when I want to spend the day relaxing.
I used to think that these two things
had to be fulfilled in different places.
But Corona no Yu was a facility that
allowed me to achieve both in the same place.
The sauna is properly hot,
and there are heat wave events on weekends.
On the other hand,
including the bedrock bath, rest areas, dining options,
and even the adjacent hotel,
you can entrust your entire day's flow to them.
Another way to enjoy it that I didn't notice
on my previous visit.
If right now,
・You feel like you want to enjoy the sauna a step deeper
・You want to spend time slowly without moving around busily
If you have such a moment,
please change how you spend your time just a little,
and try visiting again.
Even in the same place,
it will surely be a different day.
Thank you very much
for reading until the end.💐
